Question:	How many gallons or what size trash bag or liner should I use
Answer:	I Previously used Simple Human trash can liners in size "C" until l ran out. When I ordered more, turns out they changed the rim size so that it doesn't fit over these wastebaskets' rims anymore. So, I now use size "R" & a little large & long but it works. The others that have mentioned grocery bags is also a great idea. I hope this helps.

Answer:	It is about 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm) from the base to the tip of part that it inserted into the lid assembly. The horizontal line in the picture is of course a little lower.
