Answer:	It should hold a shelf nicely however here is how I installed my units. I installed 2x12 x10ft Long shelves holding dishes. I placed the brackets where studs were in the wall and used 3” Long screws to hold them in place.  Since you did not say how long or how deep of a shelf you wanted to use take my suggestion and place them on studs and use longer screws than those provided.

Answer:	Use plane soap and water or alcohol. I use that on other suction cups.
Question:	Do these work on fiberglass
Answer:	I don’t know. Have only used on glass and ceramic tile. They work great on those surfaces!
Question:	will they work mounted on bottom side of shelf
Answer:	It is unlikely that it would maintain long-term suction if applied to the underside of a shelf.
Question:	Will it work on painted fiberglass front door
Answer:	My shower enclosure is fiberglass and it works in there. They form a very strong suction so I would assume they would work on your door.
