Answer:	The pipe pieces are black, yes. But FYI- The wood is not in the best condition. I sent it back and the second one I got was just as bad.

Answer:	Mine has 4" between the base of each faucet and just a tad under 6" between the faucet 'spout'. I have to mention, though, that it looks like the style has been changed since I purchased mine. Mine has the faucets facing down and has handles that one would use to turn the faucets on (if they were actually hooked up to water). The handle that turns is what one hangs their towel or item on. I purchased mine a little over 4 years ago. Hopefully someone who has purchased one more recently & has the same style that you're looking at will be able to give you answer.
