Not a problem for me, since I only pull them out twice a year to switch out the season and vacuum.

Answer:	Yes, dividers are attached to the bottom of the container but, the walls of the container are not rigid. The container standing up is dependent on items sorted within ( for example, shoes— if no shows, the entire thing would just lay flat.
