Answer: They are made of a tarp like material.I do not think waterproof as water would maybe seep into the zipper part.I would not trust them as waterproof.

Answer: I think they will be too large for carry on, but yes defiantly for checked luggage

Answer: There are no straps on the bottom side of bag. The straps that are provided are pretty large to where you "could" carry something on your back. However, I don't suggest that.

Answer: I haven’t, but these guys are sturdy and durable..... Like seriously good
