Question:	Would the rack be sturdy if flipped upside down? If so, would sandals / flip flops fit underneath the first shelf if the rack is flipped
Answer:	No problem turning it upside down, It's just as sturdy. The lowest shelf will then be 4" in height.....that's enough for slippers etc. BUT...if you need more height but you could substitute the 4 short 1/2" aluminum posts for wooden dowels of any length to give you more height on what would be the bottom shelf. If you only need another 1 1/2 inch you could simply put a 2x2 under each foot ( actually 1 1/2" thick.) '.

About assembly tip:

• Our shoe rack is tool-free to facilitate quick assembly and disassembly, making a flexible shoe rack. At the end of each bar, there are one-piece sturdy custom plastic connectors. The groove in the middle of the plastic connector can prefect fit into the groove in the frame. Each plastic connector has a injection line. When we assemble, keep the injection line relatively vertical to the horizontal direction, and then press down along the direction of the groove of the frame to easily buckle the bar and the frame firmly. (If the injection line is parallel to the horizontal direction, you will feel that the groove is too narrow, hardly fit, etc.)

Answer:	I'm not certain..it's a sturdy tree, but with heavy weight on one side it may tip over. I only use it for light weight pieces of clothing. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
