Answer:	It stays on my tree fine. Maybe you need to put more than one bough in the spring under the star? My tree is artificial so maybe a real tree has softer boughs that wont stand up straight.

Each tree is packed with the branch tips compressed. After positioning, each branch should be unfolded one at a time
