| Answer: | 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 inches, depending on the length of the screws you use to clamp. Mine came with only one, instead of 4. of the wing nuts ( ordered 2 Coleman Cables ), and I have to source my own screws and washers. I suppose the longer the screws, the wider the diameter of the clamping mechanism, as neck of the clamp is unhinged where the wing nuts are supposed to tighten. So, you can go bigger if you wish and I suppose, the smallest is about 1 1/2 inch and the neck won't tighten anymore. |

But with these 12 and 13 amp motors, the wrong gauge extention cord will shorten the life of your equipment and appliances. In this case, an electric mower. The reviews about these mowers, not working after four uses and or it doesn't have enough power to go through tall grass, etc. Is usually due to using a lighter duty extention cord{16 or 14 gauge}. That said, the lightest gauge you should use, for a 12~13 amp motor is a twelve gauge. Be sure to get it extra long, as it needs to go from the power source, straight to the mower. In other words, if you need a 100 foot of cord. Don't get two fifty foot cords. As the extra connection effects the rating and can damage your mower in time. The right size cord will get the best performance out of your mower. BUT...you CAN get away with buying two 50' cords as long as they are TEN gauge. Ten gauge seems like overkill, it is heavier} and bulkier. But...you can use the mower with two ex. Cords and not risk damaging the motor. And they can take way more abuse than the other gauges. P.S. If you get 2 ten gauge, fifty footers. Be sure to wrap the connection with electrical tape and or use a connection cover. I hope this helps. Extention cords are not created equal. |
