User questions & answers
Question: | I have a mini fridge, can this be filled at night and lay on its side to be cold the next day and not leak |
Answer: | Thanks for asking! The Water Bottle Replacement filter for our Premium Filtering Water Bottle reduces Chlorine and Class VI Particulates. Class VI particulates are particulates (debris such as rust, dirt, sand, sediment that can make your water appear cloudy and cause a bad smell and taste) that are greater than 50 microns in size. We hope you find this information to be helpful. Should you have any further questions, you may contact our team at 800-242-7482 and mention this reference number: 190214-000609. We hope you'll be in touch. Aria from the Brita team |
Question: | Does anyone’s straws get black from the charcoal? I’m talking about the part you drink from. I can not seem to get mine clean! It’s so frustrating |
Answer: | Thanks for your question! Brita bottles are a great way to reduce plastic bottle waste while traveling. For a smooth departure, make sure your bottle is empty when going through the TSA checkpoint. After takeoff, be aware that pressure changes in the cabin may lead to a little water splashing out when you open the cap. You can easily avoid this by first releasing the pressure: Slightly unscrew and then re-screw the cap before drinking, and you’ll be all set. Happy travels! If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at 800-242-7482 and mention this reference number: 190124-000750. We look forward to hearing from you. User questions & answers
Question: | Does drinking through the straw (swallowing air) make you gassy |
Answer: | I have the 26 ounce water bottle. You just have to remember that the straw goes to the bottom of the bottle, therefore, the bottle must remain vertical. You cannot tilt it as you would a drinking glass. Hold the bottle as if it were sitting on a table and bend your head. Also, after refilling it, there will be air in the straw. Just continue to suck from the straw in the position as I have described and you will not have any problem. |
Question: | What type of filter is it ? Carbon |
Answer: | Hi there! Great question. With Brita stainless steel bottles, always hand wash the bottle with a mild soap. The plastic lid can be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand if you prefer. Always remove the filter before cleaning your Brita® Premium Filtering Water Bottle. Val from the Brita Team |
Question: | oz water bottle is impossible to drink from. Is there a secret to sucking up from the straw |
Answer: | It does get cold in the fridge. I fill it up at night with warm water and put it in the fridge and next day it's icy cold. It stays cold for a while. Haven't noticed for how long though |
Question: | Are the stainless steel bottles dishwasher safe as well |
Answer: | My straw gets black as well despite careful rinsing of the filters before use. It's very unappealing. I would love to buy a replacement mouthpiece but have not been able to find any. I love the bottle otherwise. |

User questions & answers
Question: | where does the filter made? China / US / Mexico |
Answer: | Just 1 bottle. |
Question: | I have a Brita squueese bottle and need to know the rwplacement fi!tee |
Answer: | I don't know but I doubt it. I haven't found any water bottles that are totally clean. The straws are hard plastic. The lid is hard plastic. I suspect you could change the straw out for Silicone. This was a compromise for us. Small enough for little kids and their school bags, mostly safe/clean, and not glass. As compromises go, its pretty good. I hope you find the illusive healthy water bottle! Goodness knows the marketplace needs more of them for kids! |
Question: | Are these better/ different than the generic filters sold |
Answer: | It's a silicone straw with no built out stop piece on it like the hard plastic reusable straws. There are flexible rubber teeth (instead of just a hole or flip top) in the straw area of the cup that slow down removal but don't prevent the straw from being removed all the way. |
Question: | Does the filter have expiry date? I want to store it for a long time |
Answer: | My husband uses it on his MacBook |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the bottle BPA free |
Answer: | No. This is only filters water from a faucet and gets the basic stuff."https://www.brita.com/wp-content/uploads/BRT_Impurities-Removal-Chart_Final-with-Dispenser1.jpg" |
Question: | cannot suck water out, it worked first fill then couldn't get any water second fill |
Answer: | Other than the water left over in the grooves from either rinsing or over filling it and then closing it I haven't had a problem with it leaking. It could also be the rubber attachment, I took nine off right when I got it because it was irritating me. |
Question: | I need a bottle to filter out bacteria from stream water, etc. does this do the job |
Answer: | I have never added anything to the bottle except water. It would be strictly an assumption on my part that anything that would go into the bottle would be filtered. Worth a try but test your alkaline factor of product before and after addition of other products added. Trial and error at this point wish I could be of more help personally I like the products separately. Enjoy |
Question: | have they fixed the leaking problem |
Answer: | It's embedded in the cover. It is not a functional product. Mouth piece not easily sterilized.the filter is inserted by taking off the cover and attaching. A pretty bottle. I would not recommend that you buy it. Mine is a white elephant. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | Interesting question, back in the day antennas were how people got TV in their entire houses. Just like cable and satellite you have to connect the antenna to a splitter if you want to connect more than one TV. Or you can do like I did and get a Fire TV RECAST and connect that directly to the antenna and you have TV at every location on your Fire TV stick. You will need an AMPLIFIER to boost the signal to multiple TV’s also. |
Question: | Is the spout designed in such a way to prevent water from dripping or splashing all over the place? I would be using it around books & paperwork |
Answer: | No |
Question: | I cannot get the white part out. it is stuck and i'm afraid if i force it; it will break. is there any way to get it out |
Answer: | No. This receives free over-the-air local TV stations. I use mine when my AT&T cable service is down. I'm on the verge of dropping my cable TV service and just using streaming internet services plus this antenna and saving a lot of money. |
Question: | Has anyone tried filtering vodka with it |
Answer: | it has adhesive, i put it in a window, but didnt get any channels. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this pitcher come with a filter, or do I need to buy the filter seperately |
Answer: | As the others said: this water is for use with already treated water (thats basically what potable means). It cannot be used in a camping setting to make water safe (so no, it wont remove bacteria), but is best used with already filtered water to filter it further. Personally, I like using the filtered water from my fridge, which rates a 150mp, instead of the tapwater, rates 220 mp, to further filter it to 0mp. Also, the smaller mp water youre entering into the filter, the longer the filter should last. |
Question: | Just arrived. i don't see anywhere on the packaging that it is bpa free. how do your know that it is? other than that it says so on amazon |
Answer: | I "strangled" the filter like the ZeroWater helpline person advised to remove air from the filter - but it still stops half way full. I think it is cause the filter is down in the water too far. I don't think it is the snug airtight fit. I doubt there is anyway to fill the 23 cup reservoir. I am trying a thin piece of plastic to make sure it isn't the airtight issue. Will report back |
Question: | How do I get the reservoir out of the 5 cup metro pitcher |
Answer: | I am on my 2nd filter. I got the little universal ones to try in my current pitcher. The first one lasted about two weeks before the awful smell came. The 2nd one started smelling on day TWO. I can even taste it in the water. I have spring water and it reads at 174. The filter takes it down to 00 but it's not worth it for me to have my whole fridge smelling like this. Going back to my standard. Sorry zero water. |
Question: | Does the lid stay on when pouring |
Answer: | TEST SHOWS THAT ZERO WATER FILTER DOES FILTER OUT FLUORIDE: I have used the Zero Water filter for years (simply because I like zero taste in my water) and have been wondering recently if it filtered out fluoride. Since there is not a definitive answer in this thread I decided to test it myself. I confirmed a level of 0.75 ppm at my home before filtering (0.25 ppm is naturally occurring). Testing showed that the Zero Water filter did filter out fluoride. The test showed that fluoride levels dropped to |

About Brita Water Filtration
A tall glass of water can help you feel better and stay healthier. Brita believes it should taste good, too. That’s why their filters are designed to reduce the common impurity chlorine, often found in tap water. Use Brita-filtered water for cooking, coffee, tea, plants—and even for your thirsty pets.
It all started in 1966, when West German entrepreneur Heinz Hankammer set out to fulfill his vision of optimizing normal tap water. He began production under a pear tree in the family’s garden, affectionately naming the company after his daughter, Brita. More than 45 years later, Brita is now considered a world market leader of home water filtration products.

Answer: | Yes I used a TDS pen and the water was significantly cleaner |
Question: | Does the filter system purchase include one filter |
Answer: | Thank you for your inquiry. The filters in the unit are rated to last for up to 100 gallons of filtered water or up to 3 months of use, whichever comes first. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at [email protected]. Thank you. |
Question: | My light indicator there stopped working. Is there anything can be done? Other than buying a new one of course |
Answer: | Looks like the little piece is plastic on mine (on the side inside the filter housing), but I also scraped at it and it freed up a little rectangular plastic piece that popped part way out, like a tray. Put the filter back in and now the light is correctly flashing green. Was about to call Pur. |
Question: | Does this system have three choices for water (filtered water, spray and regular flow |
Answer: | Yes there is a 90degree ball valve on the side that allows you to choose between filtered and straight tap water. It works great and after a month of heavy use I haven't had any leakage or signs of wear. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My Brita filter keeps smelling bad even after cleaning. Any tips |
Answer: | Pitcher made in China, Filter made in Canada |
Question: | How often does it need cleaning |
Answer: | I don't have any problem pouring water into glasses or bowls with the Brita. But there is one thing you need to beware of. The plastic top 'snaps down' in place. Sometimes it can come loose, and then a flood of water will pour out of the top, and over everything. To stop this from happening, I always put pressure on the top with one hand, when I am pouring water. |
Question: | Is this dispenser compatible with the blue longlast filters or just the standard white ones? Thanks |
Answer: | The easy way to get the white part dislodged is this: Remove the filter. Fill the pitcher all the way up with warm water and a dab of dishwashing liquid. Now turn it upside down. The force of the water and gravity will dislodge the white part. The soap adds some extra slip to dislodge things and cleans the pitcher. I might be a 90 pound weakling but I'm still an engineer's daughter. |
Question: | How tall is the black one? It seems as though the black is shorter and wider than the gray one but getting mixed info. Thanks |
Answer: | Mythbusters tested this concept and busted it. Myth: You can turn low-end vodka into top-shelf vodka with six filtrations of a domestic charcoal water filter (i.e. Brita filters). They set up the experiment so that the vodka testers would each get 8 shots of vodka: 6 from the filtration stations (single filtered, twice filtered, etc...), 1 top-shelf vodka, and 1 unfiltered low-end shot. The tasters were asked to rank the shots. Anthony Dias Blue, vodka expert, executive director San Francisco World Spirits Competion: his ranking corresponded exactly to the number of filtrations, with the top-shelf vodka picked as the best. Anthony: "Passing a low-end vodka through a filter will make it better, but it won't make it a top-shelf vodka" They further analyzed the vodka samples and found that there was no difference in chemical composition between the filtered vodka and the unfiltered vodka. Conclusion: You're better off buying the top-shelf stuff than wasting a bunch of water filters. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Brita filters for sports bottles are described as removing the chlorine “taste” - does this mean that NO impurities are actually removed |
Answer: | Yes it does |
Question: | Why does it say “used” next to the number of filters |
Answer: | My thought exactly. |
Question: | Does this fit the Brita BB08 hard sided 16.9 oz water bottle |
Answer: | Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, it is! |
Question: | Ok a 5 count filters is $16.99 but the "best value" is a 10 count for $59.99. Now math is not my best subject but seriously |
Answer: | Have had no issues with leaking whatsoever. The spout where it goes into the filter might leak but if you tighten it, it should not. I don't see a problem "pushing" water out either. I would call Brita. It may be a defective filter. But the Bottle has been a blessing for me. I cant afford to keep buying those plastic bottles and the earth cant afford it either. I have other filtered bottles that are made for water not out of the tap which filter more. But they are hard to drink out of and I don't need that level of filtering from the tap. I like that you can turn it upside down to drink. I have one you have to suck on and squeeze and its a real pain. This has made life simple. I want to buy some different colors to keep for guests or to change out while cleaning one. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use without filter |
Answer: | No, I compared both filters and they are different in size. Also the kids water bottle filter seems to be non removable. |
Question: | I have two small children who like to backwash into their water bottles, would this be a problem since the filter is attached |
Answer: | Hi there. Great question! While our Brita Soft Squeeze Water Filter Bottle can only remove 99.99% of chlorine (including taste and odor), we understand your concerns about hard water, and we'd be happy to document them for our team. Thanks for reaching out. Jack from the Brita team |
Question: | Does this water bottle use the same size filters as the larger brits soft squeeze bottles |
Answer: | I am looking at it at 2:30pm (EDT) on 3/20, and it is showing at $32.99 (and free prime shipping)....which is the approximate 'pre-crisis' price I'd seen in stores. So it sounds like Amazon has fixed it. |
Question: | doe it filter hard water |
Answer: | There is nothing special about it. Amazon itself is selling at that price and not allowing the third party sellers to list it over 70 dollars. Very unfair for the consumer I would advise you to contact amazon about it |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this make hose water drinkable |
Answer: | it comes with one filter. That should give you roughly 40 gals of filtered water. The filter is the same as in my larger Brita pitcher |
Question: | How to dismantle the handle to wash |
Answer: | Great question, Kathy! All of our products are BPA free. Our Brita pitchers have always been BPA free. If you have any further questions, please call us at 1-800-24-BRITA Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM EST. We're always happy to help! - Brita Consumer Services |
Question: | Any trouble with the longlast filter not fitting correctly |
Answer: | Hello! We're sorry to hear that your reservoir is stuck, and we'd like to offer a few tips to help. We recommend using two hands to pull the reservoir up from the body evenly on all sides. If that does not work, try placing it on the counter and letting it come back to room temperature. This works because the tank expands slightly and the water displaces as it warms up, allowing the reservoir to be slightly looser. You can also place your finger between the reservoir and the pitcher in the spout area to aid removal. Please give us a call at 800-24BRITA for further assistance, and be sure to mention this reference number: 171228-000487. We look forward to hearing from you! Mel from the Brita team |
Question: | can you just use the standard britta filter that last for 2 months with this pitcher |
Answer: | Yes, the lid stays in place when pouring. I am very pleased with this product. |
