When it's bitter cold, I run the space heater. Honestly, it throws so much heat, I run it only 5"-10" at a time. Call your local Electric Company! They can help you determine the best solution for heat and light. Our company gave us a supply of lightbulbs for allowing them to provide an electric conservation assessment! Hope this answer helps! Answer:	This unit is ETL listed (Edison Testing Laboratory, as in Thomas Edison), it is equal to UL (Underwriter's Laboratory). Most heating/ventilation products tend to be ETL. On top of this it has a tip switch, which apparently is not required for UL or ETL.
