Answer:	They are not very flexible...I stack bowls on the tine itself i.e. on the side of the drainer. The tines are exactly 1 inch apart and the width is 5.5" on the bottom and 5.7" on top (i.e. it flares slightly).

Answer:	I put my dish rack on the counter next to the sink. I don't want it in the sink. Although the rack should be sold with a tray to catch the water droplets, it does not. So I put a plastic tray (from a different previous rack) under the unit and it's perfect. ( You might buy a tray from CVS or Walmart.) This drying dish rack is just the right size for me, as I am the only person in my apartment and there aren't many dishes/cups to wash.
