There is also a "start" button that does the whole process automatically. You will NOT want to use the auto process on berries or things that can be easily crushed as this sealer does a great job of vacuuming out all the air and squishing soft stuff if you are not careful. Also, for liquid products, such as pasta sauce, you will want to use the pulse button to control the vacuum to keep the liquid from being sucked into the vacuum chamber and mess with the seal. | Answer: | There is an outter lid and an inner lid. The inner lid is the one that has the lock. The top/outter lid lifts up revealing the inner lid which has a slot for your mail to be place into. Personally, I don't use the locking lid because I get too many larger/bulky items that would not fit through the slim mail slot. If you are concerned about that, I would recommend finding another mail box that locks differently. I wanted to use the locking feature, but when I got the mailbox, I found out the slot was too narrow. It is fine if you just have letters and magazines sent to you. Hope this helps. |

Most modern mailboxes are made without the blessing of PMG overlord, because it requires time, a ton of government red tape, and a ton of green money. If you’re looking for a specific requirements, let us know. Most local postal workers don’t mind, but we’re happy to answer questions. We’ve been doing mailboxes for 10 years and haven’t had any problems so far. Hope this helps. |

| Answer: | NOTE: THIS ANSWER APPLIES TO "THE MURPHY" - Hi Michael. Thanks for asking about the Murphy mailbox. Sounds like you have a super fun post office. Federally, the requirements are 1.5" x 7" for the slot, so I guess they're power-playing your area. The slot for this mailbox is 8.5" wide x 1" in height. In 10 years of selling mailboxes like this, we've yet to have a complaint about the slot size. Hope this helps. Ask your post office if they need a hug. |

| Answer: | The top stainless piece opens to the rear, like a car hood. When open that exposes a slot for your mail to be inserted into the box, and also the lock. When unlocked, the larger lower stainless piece and hinges down and allows to you take your delivered mail. |
