Answer:	1/2 cup popcorn and two tablespoons of oil. I have better results with a little more oil, enough to cover the bottom of the pot.

Answer:	I use Orville Redenbacher popcorn in the plastic container from Amazon as it makes large white fluffy popcorn. The popper holds between 1/4 - 1/2 cup of unpopped popcorn. It makes a big bowl. Only takes a few minutes so if you need a lot just keep popping! I use this everyday. I spray the popcorn while it’s hot and sprinkle on powdered seasoning also sold by Amazon. Hope this helps.

Tips to getting your popcorn just right:

1. Not all microwaves work exactly the same, so play with the timing until you get it just right. Experiment a little- your microwave may cook the popcorn faster or slower than the 2:30-3:00 average! If your precious popcorn is getting burnt when adding butter prior to popping, try adding the butter after all those kernels have transformed into beautiful puffed popcorn.
2. Always use fresh popcorn kernels. Store your popcorn in an airtight container. Refrigeration is not recommended.
3. Stopping and starting your microwave during the cooking cycle is not recommended. Once you stop the microwave, the steam buildup in the center of the kernel, which causes the popcorn to pop, will cool off and never reach the desired temperature to re-pop. If you restart the microwave you also risk burning the already popped popcorn. Using the sound test is the best way to determine if your popcorn is done. If there are more than two full seconds between pops, it’s time to stop.

Answer:	No shaking necessary. That's what's good about it. A crank at the end of the handle turns a mixing rod at the bottom of the pan. This pops the corn very evenly without burning.

Answer:	Induction works by magnetic induction. Movement of metallic molecules back and forth causing friction and thus heat. If you can’t put a magnet up against it and it holds, then no it doesn’t work and will be cold to the touch. Is aluminum magnetic? No. Only if it has a steel ply plate on bottom which this doesn’t.

Answer:	The Franklin's Whirley Pop has a bent wire sweeper - we've tested it against internal paddle sweepers and the bent wire is more efficient at popping more kernels and popping them more evenly.

Answer:	This is a great add for my 2018, ie “2020” Mac mini but mine is not the M1. Based on my research I would think it could but double check the Thunderbolt connection. I recently bought an external HD that would not work on my 2018 model because the drive used a USB-C 3.1 and I guess mine are 3.0. I got it to work using the normal USB but that wasn’t my goal. You may experience the same here. You’re basically trading a Thunderbolt port to add 2 USB and media card slots. I’d try it and return if it doesn’t or check the manufacturer’s website

Answer:	We had though about it, but the stand hub may get too warm beneath the MacMini with the drive, would probably require an internal fan, and the additive of a drive and the port hubs would require the use of two USB-C ports on the back.  If we can test and perfect it to where we are happy, you never know what may come in the future. Answer:	I tried it both ways and the corn pops fluffier if you put butter or vegan butter in the lid. This allows not just for flavor, but acts as a fat/oil to pop the kernels. It comes out so amazing! When I didn't add it, popcorn was dry and flavorless.

Does this machine require oil

Answer:

Yes. My microwave began making a deep and loud buzzing sound 30 seconds into cooking. I immediately got up to check things out and could also see orange sparks coming from the sides of the microwave. Thankfully, I acted quickly by turning the microwave off and the microwave is fine. I’ve used this popper many times before without problems. The kernels were expired by about 7 months so maybe that’s why. Other stuff I put in my microwave is not sparking, so I do think it’s this popcorn maker.
