Answer:	This doesn’t answer your question BUT I lost my cup and I emailed the company. They send me out a new one right away!

Answer:	Mine has a black bottom and no alarm. Although it shut off, because I expected an alarm (like that the one i had previously) I didn’t notice when it had finished. Question:	WHY do you have to poke a hole in the top of egg when hard boiling? If the egg bubbles out the hole, what's the purpose
Answer:	It's important to poke the hole into the fat end of the egg. This is because each egg has an air pocket at this end. And set the egg into the tray with the hole up so that this sulphury air can properly escape. You're venting the nasty stuff that you don't want infusing into the egg. Venting makes the eggs look great and taste great. Just remember, wide-end up.
Question:	Does this item have an automatic shut off
Answer:	Mine (the stainless steel with "No Alert" option) shuts off automatically. I've noticed that it will cut back on if left alone for several minutes, though. I guess the water drips back down from the dome and the sensor thinks it's time to cook again. Since that happened, I try to flip the switch off right after they're done.

Some users suggested using the water level for 1 medium well egg and make slight adjustment from there.

How to Boiling Eggs：

1. Firstly, remove the lid and then take out the egg tray and poachers from the egg cooker.

2. According to the desired consistency of the eggs to be cooked (soft, medium or hard boiled eggs). Use the measuring cup to adjust the accurate water pouring into the heating plate.

3. Prepare the number of eggs to be cooked (up to 14 eggs at most). Use the egg piercer to create a small hole in the larger end of each egg and then place them securely into the egg tray holes.

4. Place the cover on to the egg boiler, plug in and switch on the egg cooker at the mains power supply.

5. Once the water has completely evaporated and the eggs are cooked, the indicator light and egg cooker will automatically switch off.

6. Turn the power off after the cooking process has finished. Carefully remove the eggs because they will have become hot during the cooking process.

Answer:	It withstands oven temperature pans .. I put pans on it that have been in 400 degree oven. I really don’t know the answer about it being over the fryer but I don’t see a problem. Maybe the manufacturer could tell you......I love my mats. Just ordered another for our vacation home. Good luck.

Question:	How easy are the boiled eggs to peel
Answer:	I have several high precision measuring tools at my disposal and I am consistently getting 1.65mm to 1.7mm on my mat. Being generous since it's easy to mis-measure a soft rubber, 1.8mm would be the max. That said, it's thicker than most other kitchen mats and seems pretty decent. The photos in this listing make it look deceptively thick for some reason. If you need thicker it's hard to find without going to a much larger piece from an industrial roll.

Question:	How are the poached eggs? How many will it do
Answer:	It does time itself. It just doesn't have an audible timer...so it doesn't beep or whatever. I've let eggs sit in this cooker for an hr or more before handling them and they turn out fine!

Question:	I know it can make omelettes but how does that work if I want to add cheese, ham, bacon, etc to my omelette
Answer:	There is an omelette tray with most and you can add items that either don't need cooked to eat or are already cooked and cooled. It won't look like a "normal" omelette; it'll be flat and round. You could use a fork to flip one side if you want after it's on a plate.
