Answer:	By or borrow a book on dehydrators. I am just starting out so I only have experience with apples and bananas so far. Many fruits require that you spray them first with Lemon Juice and water. I have made Beef Jerky a couple of times with success. I just marinate it ("Baby Rays" and a touch of booze) . I just throw the strips on, crank it up to max and keep an eyeball on it.. If doing multiple trays, I switch bottom to top as the jerky stiffens so the bottom won;t get overcooked.

Answer:	My son dried canned chicken for hiking/camping, and it turned out great. Also, he did sauces on the solid trays for meals when camping/hiking. Myself, I've done venison and spam. For raw pork and chicken, I'd think you'd want to use a ''cure'' to preserve it better, but I'm not sure on that. Do a google search.

Answer:	You don’t. There is a conversion table printed on the top right corner. There is no other way to convert the actual “reading” that is displayed. Answer:	There are two Ivation 6 tray dehydrators. One is around 99 dollars while the other is around 179 dollars. The cheaper is mostly plastic while the other is mostly stainless steel. They are of different wattage also. I would make sure which one I wanted and even call customer service to make sure I got the right one.

You can find affordable alternative silicon liners, if you are not able and willing to spend an extra 63 dollars for something they should be tossing in for free.
Question:	can the shelves be left out and the unit used as a proofing oven
Answer:	You could use it as a proofing oven, the lowest temperature would be 85 degrees but there is no humidity control. You can use the dehydrator to culturing yogurt and fermentation too.
Question:	Are the shelves stored inside the folded-down unit? Or do you have to take them out and store them separately
Answer:	The shelves are stored separately. They come with their own zippered storage case which is about an inch high an keeps all the shelves together and clean while not in use.
Question:	why is this dehydrator almost
Answer:	At this point the cost for the more expensive (metal shelf) version is 350 dollars, not "almost 500". Still pretty steep, and maybe over-priced. But everyone who owns one seems to rave about it being a piece of quality equipment. More like investing in a major appliance than, say, picking up a blow dryer at Costco.

Prepare Your Items

Cut your items (e.g., fruits) into even pieces to ensure that they dry evenly. Please do not overlap the food!

Stack the Trays Up

Use all trays and liners at once, or remove trays as needed, making sure not to exceed 1.1 lb (0.5 kg). With a bonus mesh screen and fruit roll sheet to help dry specific items.

Set the Time & Temperature

Press the Temp/Time button to adjust temperature with the +/– buttons, and once more to adjust time. You can also pause while dehydrating to check the process, or you can monitor the process of drying by transparent top cover.
