Answer:	I know this is an old question. But just in case anyone else wants to know, yes it is adjustable. When you lift the top back, like you would do to remove or insert the bowl, there is a flat head screw that is visible. If you want the mixer to reach lower into the bowl you turn the screw clockwise (to the right) if you want to lift it turn it counterclockwise (to the left). I would move the screw 1/4 or 1/2 the way around the circle at a time so that you can test it out to make sure you don't move it down too low. If you do just turn the screw back a little and it'll move it back up so you can get it in the right position.

Answer:	There are lots of differences, but mainly, it's a matter of power. Even some of the units with the bowl-lift feature do not have the brute force of the heavier duty units. This becomes especially apparent when doubling or tripling batches of baked goods. Buy the heaviest duty unit you can afford. It's money well spent.

Answer:	Kitchenaid makes a 3 quart bowl for this mixer. You can only use the 6 quart or the special 3 quart for this mixer.

Answer:	My guess is definitely not the 3qt, as to the 5qt probably not. The 6qt bowl has tabs on the sides which hook onto posts which are part of the arms assembly which holds the bowl. There is also a tab on the back of the bowl which snaps on a bead which is the final securing part of the holder assembly. Then one raises and lowers the entire arm/bowl assembly when using the mixer. This is an unbelievable machine and if you regularly make recipes in large quantity this machine is the one your want.

Answer:	According to their product info page it’s a 6 month warranty. I purchased one a while back and LOVE it! It came with all 3 blade/mixer attachments, instructions and recipe book (new), and bowl. Very well packed in a seemingly new box with new packing. In fact the only way I could tell it wasn’t brand new was the fact that the box said “renewed” on it. Not a scratch on the mixer or the bowl. I use mine mostly for making dog biscuits, and it does not get bogged down even with the stiffest of doughs.

Answer:	The reason why I purchased the professional is because this particular one had the metal gears. I didn't mind paying a bit more for that.

The wisk may be stainless steel but the bread dough hook and the flat beater are burnished aluminum. As far as I could tell you can only get the stainless steel one separate or with the higher end models.
Question:	How much bread flour will it handle
Answer:	It can easily handle up to 2 kg of dough. (1 kg of dough = 500g flour + 300g sourdough starter + 200g water).I would say 3kg of dough is still OK but 4kg is really pushing it.

What is a KitchenAid Refurbished Product?

KitchenAid portable appliances are built with quality being the most important factor. However, we do have products returned to us either from stores or directly from consumers. Every return, whether from a store or from a consumer, is analyzed and repaired if needed and offered as a refurbished product that is electrically and mechanically sound.

With a refurbished product there may be a minor cosmetic fault such as a small scratch or ding, but these cosmetic faults never impact the performance of the refurbished mixer. A refurbished product carries a 6 month total replacement warranty on anything except cosmetic damage. Answer:	The entire unit is metal. Only plastic might be little ball on the level for speed.
Question:	I don't do large-scale baking and I love the glass bowl, but the 150 watt difference in the KP26M1XER makes me ask what would I lose w/ the Artisan
Answer:	Mostly you would lose three things. First, the power, due to the decreased wattage, and . Second, the the bowl lift capability that is available on the KP26. Third, a decrease in bowl size from 6 to 5 quarts. Depending on your needs these three differences may or may not lead you to the fourth difference which is price.If your not into large scale baking as you stated, I would recommend the KSM155GBCA. You can also get a stainless bowl for the KSM155 and keep the glass bowl, you don't have that option with the KP26. If your not doing large scale baking as you say, your choosing a less expensive mixer with plenty of power that looks great vs a more expensive mixer with power you will probably never fully need or use.
