When my previous microwaved died - I knew it was happening because of the change in sound from a quiet fan noise to a much deeper sound. When I installed this Farberware microwave, it immediately was the deeper, louder sound. If I programmed this Farberware to cook at power level 3 the loud sound went on and off during the cook cycle. So I read the one star reviews more closely and noticed there are some significant patterns of failure of this unit. I did call the Farberware help line and they said, "That sounds about like the one in our break room" ( I cannot make this stuff up!) So I returned mine and bought another brand from Amazon. The replacement unit operates at the expected quieter level.

Answer:	They claimed 12.4A/1480W. I just bought this model (brand new) and measured the current with kill-a-watt: peak 16.9A, average 14.5A. My 20A afci/gfci breaker is very sensitive. When current reaches 80% (16A) it DOES trip the breaker sometimes. I test it with a 15A AC outlet connected with 15A "traditional" breaker, it works fine. Not sure if I got a defective product. I have to return it. Be careful when reading microwave's specs. Usually the wattage in description is "power output", not "power comsumption". It is NOT that easy like 1200W/120V=10A.
