Question:	Does this unit have a vent fan
Answer:	Interesting the variance of answers. Here's mine. Agree that it doesn't vent thru vent hood to the outside. I could not locate any grille area in the front (unless it is on the bottom of the unit) to exhaust air. (I cannot easily remove the unit to look on the bottom.) However, I could see light below the unit apparently coming from the control unit on right side. There was some air exhausting to the front from underneath and more from the right rear behind the controls thru a grille. On the inside there are grilles on the left wall and on the right wall where the light resides. I think there is a fan in that area as well. Not sure where the exhaust goes. The instruction book mentions this rather obliquely saying "Oven vent(s) and oven light is located on the inside walls ..." and "...change in the blower sound ..." indicates that there is a blower. It didn't seem like much air was being pushed out either in the front or rear, and I've not been aware of any smells being exhausted, but I haven't really been looking for that. I agree with the comment that the unit is slightly higher than the previous ones and barely fits between two cabinets that were made to accommodate two previous microwave units which is why I didn't want to remove it to look for possible vents on the bottom. Hope this helps.
Question:	Will this microwave fit on a standard 12-inch depth shelf? Would someone please measure from the front feet to the back, allowing for the plug
Answer:	To answer your question, the depth from the cable bend (top rear) to the front foot is about 10.75 inches. The depth to the front of the cabinet is about 13.75 inches if the cable is pressed against a hard surface in the rear. So, if you have a wall or other hard vertical surface in the rear, you will have about 1.75 inches of overhang on a 12 inch shelf. It will work ok. Now, you may find another problem. The electric cord is only about 3 feet in length and, as mentioned, exits the unit about an inch in and an inch down from the top right rear. In my case my electric outlet was below the microwave, so I used up nearly a foot of the electric cord just getting back to the shelf level. I had to reverse the electric socket and was just able to get the plug into the socket. So, be sure that you have an accessible outlet. I presume all similar units will have this problem, but some may have the electric cord exit the unit at the bottom rear or on the left rear at top or bottom. Hope this helps.

Answer:	If you can live with the GE dimensions the others have quoted, go for it. I measured W = 23 7/8, H = 11 3/4, and D = 12 7/8 using a handy yardstick. The height includes 1/8 for removable buttons that fill mounting holes for hanging the oven. The depth Does Not include the electric cord that exits the top right rear of the box, so I'd say it requires about 13 1/2 inches of depth. This oven is slightly higher than my previous Profile, and I had to be creative to wedge it in between two cabinets that were designed for the dimensions of two earlier units.

Answer:	Not sure -- had to throw ours away when it died after only about 19 months of service. That was the 2nd G.E. microwave we bought with the mfg. coupon they gave us when the first one also died shortly after the warrantee was up. We bought a Panasonic, which has been great. Avoid G.E. if you want it to last.
