Answer:	Sure, you can leave the solar cover on. It will still add some heat into the water but the better use is that it will keep debris out of the pool. Even if the pool is not used during the winter season.

Answer:	Florida: 60 degrees...Utah: 80 degrees..... Solar covers are much more effective (and necessary) in the dry sunny climate found west of the Rockies than in the more humid climate east of the divide. In dry climates pools get cold even with lots of sun because almost all pool heat is lost through evaporation, and solar covers effectively reduce that. In June and July, solar radiation keeps my pool at 80-83 degrees if I cover the pool immediately after swimming to prevent evaporation.
Question:	how do i find the sealers for this one
Answer:	Even though the water heats up, it's trapped under the cover which minimizes the evaporation rate. (It would reduce it completely if it was totally sealed) There will be minimal evaporation around the sides, and if there are any holes that allow water to come to the top, but my "refill" rate has been cut at least 75-80%. Here during the summer, I used to have to refill every 7-10 days. So far I've done it only once in the last few weeks. Not sure if I can share links, but there is an article on energy (dot) gov on Swimming Pool Covers and it references some good stuff.

Answer:	Bubble side down. The bubbles diffuse the sun's rays into the water warming it better than if the smooth side was down. Actually it will warm your pool a good 5 to 8 degrees more with the bubbles down (facing the water). Plus it adheres to the water better in windy situations. It is also easier to sweep or clean the solar blanket when the smooth side is up.

Question:	I'm looking for a large electric pressure cooker without tons of other features. i don't can, tho. should i still consider it? thanks
Answer:	To me the whole point of this canner is it does have lots of features (electronics are cheap). This single unit has replaced my crock pot, a smaller electric pressure cooker (That was not certified to can), and gives me a way to can smaller batches (Like the leftover chili I made with this device). The extra features are easy to use, so I don't see the downside. Plus it is way easier to use than hauling out my large stove top pressure canner. So yes, I would still consider it. This purchase was well worth it and will quickly pay for itself in better food and money saved.

Answer:	Yes I have successfully done so using the Amish Canning Cookbook recipe on page 136 but you have to use wide-mouth quart jars which should be nbd given the amount / consistency of the filling.

Answer:	This is not an error code. When the Carey shows E10 it is starting the venting process necessary to pressure can. The instructions, including the revised ones, are not clear on this. When you are pressure canning, the pressure limiting valve should be on "exhaust". After a bit, the Carey will beep and show E10, do nothing...you should allow the Carey to vent until the countdown reaches E0 and then switch the pressure valve to "airtight". The timer will begin shortly after you switch to "airtight".

Answer:	I just purchased this item last week and the item came exactly as pictured. I think that the confusion has arisen because the basket comes flattened out and inside of a plastic container that has rope handles around it. The plastic container is for transporting the basket when the basket is collapsed (flattened). So the rope handles are NOT on the basket itself.

HOW TO USE AND CARE FOR YOUR ROASTER OVEN

1. Unpack your Nesco Roaster Oven completely and remove all packaging material and information labels. Place the Roaster Oven in a well ventilated area on a heat resistant surface. Set the control dial to its minimum setting. Plug the cord into a 120 volt AC outlet. Return control to maximum setting (450-degrees F). Operate the Roaster Oven empty (without the cookwell or cover) for approximately 60 minutes, or until any odor or smoking disappears. Some smoke and odor are a normal part of "curing" the element and will not reoccur in cooking use. When curing is completed, turn the temperature control to its lowest setting, unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and allow to cool.

2. Wash the cover, cookwell and rack in warm sudsy water, then rinse and dry. Refer to complete cleaning instructions in manual.

3. Non-stick cookwell: When 'curing' your Roaster Oven with a non-stick cookwell, we recommend that it be operated with cover and cookwell. Do this in a covered outside area or other well-ventilated area. After curing and cleaning, and before cooking in your non-stick cookwell for the first time, lightly coat the interior of the cookwell with vegetable oil.



HELPFUL HINTS

Preheat roaster oven for 20 minutes.

Roasting meat in your Nesco Roaster Oven keeps it moist and tender.

For additional browning, you can add 1 tbsp. browning sauce to oil and brush over skin before roasting.

To sear meat, preheat Roaster Oven at 450-degrees F. Add margarine. Cover, then sear meat for 10 to 15 minutes per side until lightly browned. Stir ground meat once. Time will vary depending on the quantity of meat. Alternative browning method for self-basting turkeys, preheat at 400-degrees F for 20 minutes. Roast bird for 1 hour at 400-degrees F. Reduce heat to 350-degrees using included time chart, 13-18 minutes per pound. During last hour of roasting increase temperature to 400-degrees and remove all excess juices in bottom of cookwell.

Answer:	The lid does not seal at all. When I need a seal to retain fluids, I place a silicone cooking mat between the lid and the cook well.

Answer:	No. I'm not sure how the others saying "yes" define searing, but there is not enough heat on the bottom to sear. The heating element is only around the side walls, so the only heat on the bottom is what is conducted indirectly from the sides. After having the unit on 425 for 30 minutes, it will evaporate drops of water, but slowly (no rolling ball droplets that indicate searing temp). There is not enough heat to get a med-high sear as you would on a stovetop. I wish it stated more clearly that the element is only on the sides. I couldn't find that information on Amazon or Nesco's own site. I'm still looking for a true one pot solution that allows both searing and slow cooking without switching pans and/or appliances.
Question:	Are the lids covered with a nonstick surface
Answer:	The exterior of the lid has a red glaze. The interior looks like a buffed aluminum surface, though don't think it's a non-stick coating. It is, however, quite easy to clean.

Answer:	The skin on my bird was crispy. I've never had a problem with roasting a turkey and not having crispy skin. I use the meat rack and check it periodically.
Question:	How hot does the outside get? I'd like to use this in our motor home instead of the convection oven which heats up the living area
Answer:	The outside does get hot as the product is stainless steel. I typically put a cutting board under the product just in case. The product did not produce enough heat to worry about heating the room versus the oven.

Answer:	A setting on the front at approximately 225 degrees is marked "Slow Cook".
Question:	I need an oven mostly for baking. The stove oven in our motorhome is small and unreliable.Can I bake in this? Pie? Cake? Will it brown meat
Answer:	I have baked both a cake and a custard pie in our oven. It took a little longer than my regular oven (which is a convection oven), but the results were the same. I use it in place of the big oven when I just need one baked something and it's too hot to heat the regular oven. be sure to follow the instructions and preheat the roaster oven first. I think you'll be pleased with the results.
