Answer:	I had the same problem. The instructions are very misleading. Simply press "set" and choose your temp (I like 155). Your chosen number will flash 3 times - while it's flashing push "start" and it will heat to that temp. The instructions led me to believe I should push start after the number stopped flashing and the current temp showed. As you've found, that doesn't work. I'm loving it now, but wish they'd fix their instructions.

Question:	Is there any plastic that comes in contact with the water
Answer:	Actually yes. Technically, it is some sort of rubber seal. Between ceramic body and stainless steel heat element, there is very tight gap that has to be sealed by rubber gasket. The contact is very minimum. I just found this after using it for over 4 years.

Answer:	By law, to sell in the USA it can't have lead in it, nevertheless it is made in China and Chinese factories have cut corners and sold countless items for animals and humans in the U.S. and Europe that had lead and other poisons in them. During the G. W. Bush years when consumer protection agencies' budgets were slashed and they could not inspect what was coming into the country, banned substances were turning up in toys, dishes, foods, and pet products. Lead and melamine were two biggies. In fact, not only did Chinese factories put melamine in candy and dog food that ended up in the U.S. and Europe (killing pets in the U.S.) but in 2008 they put melamine in milk and baby formula sold in China itself, causing injury and hospitalization for 300,000 people and the deaths of Chinese infants. We're back to another anti-government administration bent on crippling our federal agencies we created to protect us, so I wouldn't be in a hurry to trust anything coming out of countries with histories of ignoring our consumer protection laws. Even when manufacturers make it a requirement, they too often don't know what it is really happening in the factories they use in countries suffering from so much corruption.

Answer:	the interior is all ceramic but you can see the heating element, which is located on the back side by the heater.

Answer:	It is almost impossible to have a totally lead-free ceramic. This is why even an illustrious company like Fiesta can only advertise as "lead free" and not "100% lead free" because lead is naturally occurring in the materials we use to make most glazes, and so there will always be some *trace* amount of lead. If it is made in China, there is no way to know for sure if there is lead in it or not. But you can order test strips and test it yourself.

But the reviewer is right, there is a seal inside, between the hot metal plate and the ceramic, so maybe one should check what this seal is made of...

Operating Instructions:

1. Plug it in.

2. Place cookware of your choice onto glass surface.

3. Turn the knob to your desired heat level.

4. When finished cooking, unplug the cooktop and wait for it to cool (minimum 15 min).

5. Once cooled, wipe clean with a damp cloth.



Warning: Never use petrol products or harsh/abrasive cloths or soaps to clean your cooktop burner, it may scratch the surface or damage the unit.

Answer:	Actually that was the same concern I had so I tried it cautiously several times and it seems to do the job. Example; on the main larger burner I’ll Be boiling potatoes and on the smaller burner I’ll be warming chili or the like and have had no problems. Other units I’ve had couldn’t do that. Also I can operate the microwave without popping the breaker. Of course I have all the appliances connected to a surge protector. Toaster Oven, Toaster, Microwave and the two top ceramic burner. I love the unit and highly recommend it.
Question:	Can you use 2 pots at the same time ?i don't want the unit to over heat and die out

Question:	Can you use cast iron on it
Answer:	this part here is 12 inches. i needed 24 for the electric wall fireplace. It was in amazon that said ppl purchased the 2 together. if u have something small that requires a 12 inch bracket im sure it will work fine
