I would say that if you were to get an extension, to make sure it's a low-number gauge, and as short as possible. That should decrease the possibility of it heating up and causing a fire. But of course it would be best to plug it in directly to an outlet.

Answer:	Comes with the chair. The wires from the back of each chair connect to the bottom when you put them together and then each chair has a cord that connects to a cord that plugs into an outlet. This is for the massage and heating function of the couch. My favorite feature.
