You probably don't want to go with thinner cords or longer cords as they could overheat depending on the current that you're drawing through it from the devices connected to the power controller.

If your AC line does not vary in voltage or if lighting strikes have not damage any of your appliances, i don't see the need for a power conditioners. If this a sound application and you are getting hiss or noise, then look for a line EMI filter or similar.

Answer:	You can use any high-quality power cable available today. It's best to Use a high current capacity cable With a Quality connector plug since this is the front end of all the rest of your components. It's quite easy for this unit to be a choke point if you don't use a high-quality cable and this doesn't mean anything you might find at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Answer:	The Furman unit has two 12v trigger jacks in the back, one is for a 12v input signal which is supplied by a mini plug coming from another device. This input will then turn on the switched outlets. The mini plug can be coming from any device that can supply the 12v dc. You have three options to supply the 12v to the input jack: 1) buy a device that you can turn on and off and has a 12v dc mini jack output, one of the mini plug ends goes into the device and the other goes into the Furman 2) Get a 12v dc power supply, cut one of the mini plug ends and connect the two wires on the plug onto the power supply. Use the power supply switch to turn on and off. 3) Buy a 12v dc adapter and cut the adapter output cable and one end of the mini cable to match the plus and minus sides of both cables, then put a lamp cord switch on the ac side off the converter. The plus side on the adapter is usually coated with a white stripe and the plus side on the mini plug is connected to the tip of the plug. The length of the mini plug is dependent on how far away you wan to be when turning the units on.
