User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this thermometer inside the oven, to measure his temperature |
Answer: | I wouldn't - I have another thermometer for the oven |
Question: | Why are there so many reviews for a Freezer-Refrigerator thermometer when this item is an Oven thermometer |
Answer: | If you look at the options available, one is for the oven thermometer but the other option is for a freezer/refrigerator thermometer. |
Question: | Do I have to calibrate this thermometer? Just bought this 4/9/2016 and used it 2 times - the temp is off 200 degrees |
Answer: | You do not have to calibrate this thermometer, and for that matter, it's sealed, so you can't. What temperature are you trying to measure? Any gauge has a sweet spot, or median reading that it's most accurate at, and this one is in the 300-400 degree range. If you are using it for 100 or 600 degrees, it can be off, but should not be off by 200 degrees. To be sure that it's off, make sure you have two other thermometers and measure a temperature of 350 degrees. If still off, you need a replacement. I hope this helps. |
Question: | Is there a warranty on this |
Answer: | O don't believe so. I'd avoid it - mine hot stuck at 300° after few months. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there Mercury in this thermometer |
Answer: | No. It has a steel spring inside. |
Question: | I'm looking at the picture...why is 0c almost lined up with 30f, shouldn't it be 32f, which it has a perfect mark for |
Answer: | -10C is at 13F needs to go CW to 14F, 0C off by 1F needs CW to 32F, BUT 10C is almost spot on at 50F, 20C falls a bit short of 68F. Or if you're European or like metric system the Fahrenheit scale is the wrong one. Looks like art work is not so good and all people on this product team failed elementary grade science! |
Question: | The description says this thermometer is over 6" tall. That sounds rather large, can anyone confirm |
Answer: | The 6 inch measurement is for the display card it is attached to. This is typical for Amazon descriptions for items of this kind. As stated in other answers, the thermometer itself is 3.5 inches tall |
Question: | how accurate is the thermometer? I've used one of these types before in my breville and it gave the wrong temperature of the inside of the oven |
Answer: | The only way to make sure a thermometer is accurate is to calibrate it. This is done by boiling water and using the thermometer to test the water. If the thing reads 121 degrees, it is accurate. If not, then it needs to be calibrated...that is, the dial needs to be rotated in relation to the dial so it reads 212 degrees. From what I see, most dial type oven thermometers are no longer manufactered with a small nut on the back to allow calibration. Find an old one at a yeard sale and you might be able to. |

User questions & answers
Question: | This device can measure temperature in degrees Celsius |
Answer: | It does both. There is a switch on the back. |
Question: | use in a smoker? probe is stainless, but cord looks rubber. it would be crimped by the door latching shut |
Answer: | This is a very good unit which is very easy to use. The cord is some sort of high temperature rubber/plastic. It is not hurt by my oven door or grill lid. Two pieces of advice gained from experience....1.) Be careful not to overflex the joint between the probe and the cable, and 2.) never expose the cable or probe to open flame. Because of overflexing and fire I ruined two probes. I could not find a way to purchase a replacement probe, and bought complete new units. |
Question: | I am very careful when I use your product but the wire is bare in two places, can i repair with rubber tape |
Answer: | NO, don't use rubber or cloth tape. You can use glass tape, I think 3M has it or go to a good electric supply store. Call and ask for glass tape it won't burn. LH |
Question: | what is wrong when the display on thermo temp say Lo |
Answer: | Lo for me just meant my turkey temp was below the lo temp it starts at. (was a bit frozen) After a while when the turkey cooked and warmed up the thermometer kicked in. I found this out as the same Lo came up after changing batteries. |
Question: | Can this work for a taylor 1478-21. it takes 2 aaa batteries |
Answer: | Polder Customer Service Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, this has only been tested using Polder thermometers and we do not have the specs for our competitors to give you an accurate answer. |
Question: | Is this an in oven thermometer or just instant read? Concerned the plastic will melt if left in the oven |
Answer: | Not instant read and Not plastic. Silicon. Don't use it under a broiler on high and you'll be fine in an oven (good for 500f, so roasts are pretty much the target application ). |
Question: | Can I use this to replace the probe from another brand |
Answer: | I found that this probe works perfectly with a William Sonoma gizmo I bought ~ 10 years ago - no model markings and I don't think they sell it anymore, sorry. It is much better than the original probe, having a durable temp-resistant grip. It has a 2.5mm male connector, which is thinner than, e.g., analog iPhone jacks. If your old iPhone buds fit in your device, this probe definitely won't work. Probably won't anyway (see below for tech details). Note mostly for hobbyists: contra Marc, this is not a thermocouple of any standard type. Neither is it an RTD of either standard platinum variety. Thermocouple and RTD resistance at 20C/68F ranges roughly from 10-1000 ohms. This probe is roughly 200 kOhms. You can get good readings from it as part of a voltage divider, but calibration is up to you. |
Question: | Does this work with model 307T |
Answer: | Yes. As per Polder, the probe is probe is compatible with the following thermometers: 307, 307T, THM-362-86, 362-90, and THM-308-90. |

Question: | Can this thermometer be left in the oven during cleaning |
Answer: | No, you can't. This soil tester is designed to measure moisture/ph level of the soil and sunlight level. The 2 probes are copper probe and aluminum probe, if you use it to test the ph in water, or other liquids, the 2 probes may be damaged. So, please do not use this tester to test pure water or acidic liquid, just use it to measure the soil. |
Question: | Where is this made |
