Answer:	Our Derwent pepper grinder very well indeed worked for a year but suddenly stopped performing. We contacted the UK office of Cole & Mason. They put us in touch with the US office, we returned our faulty grinder and the other day we received a brand new Derwent pepper grinder sent from Canada. Answer:	I can tell you I'm here to replace my Magnum grinder with this one based on reviews because the Magnum after time has uneven pepper grind quality. It's also infuriatingly slippery if your fingers are wet, and this has been a problem and source of aggravation since day one when multitasking to get a multi-part meal on the table. I've had two of them in town and country for nearly ten years and am going to be glad to be rid of them.

Answer:	We have had the pepper grinder for several years, and it definitely leaves pepper on the counter. More so now than when we first got it. I think it very much depends on how hard you set it down. If you're heavy-handed (like one member of my household!), than of course, anything that was ground and didn't fall off over your plate/pan will come loose when you smack it down on the counter. You'll have less residue if you shake it gently over your plate, then set it down gently on the counter.

Answer:	The only springs are the ones holding the batteries in! So, I'm guessing that is where they should go.

Answer:	Plenty for normal use. The cylinder is ~ 1 inch in radius and 1.5 inches in height, so if I'm remembering my algebra correctly (height x radius squared), that's 1.5 cubic inches in volume; weight would depend upon the coarseness of the salt.

Answer:	You can adjust it very easily by turning the metal knob on top of the pepper. We rarely use the salt.
Question:	Are there replacement springs available? I received one that is missing the spring
Answer:	I haven't been able to stop them from spilling. I found a small decorative tray that I placed them on to deal with that issue.

Answer:	It's most often called "grinding salt". There about the size of or maybe a little bit bigger than a good sized peppercorn.

Answer:	This is a grinder so anything that could be ground should work. It's tough enough for salt and pepper! So prob would work on other spices. I don't think leafy spices would be good tho cuz it might clog!

Answer:	Sort of. If you have one messy hand and one clean hand, you can hold the grinder in the clean, and use the other forearm to move the lever. Because it's a big lever, you don't need your hand to operate it, just something that can push on it.

Answer:	No, it can not: on Kuhn Rikon's webpage for this product they specifically say not to grind cloves or anise because the oils will destroy the plastic.

Question:	Are all sets ordered in 2018 "etched" and not painted? how can i tell before i order? where is the upc label to check
Answer:	DKB changed the manufacturing process for the markings on the mill many years ago so all mills in the marketplace should be updated with the etched version. Please note that the updated laser etched markings look similar to the old printed version, this was just a processing change which made the markings much more durable. Answer:	The pepper mill hasn't leaked at all. I had to check the salt grinder - I couldn't see anything on my lightish granite counters, but I could feel a little bit of very fine salt "dust" - not enough to worry about.
