User questions & answers
Question: | What is the Size |
Answer: | The lids are air tight and the gaskets are removable so you can clean them. I don't know if the lids are BPA/BPS free though. |
Question: | What size would hold a bunch of bananas |
Answer: | Try putting a paper towel between the containers when nested. Once a glass dish has chipped they are far more prone to breaking and shattering. I witnessed a glass Pyrex dish shatter as it was taken out of the microwave and put on the counter. |
Question: | do these work good for "pre-cut up" salad mixes, pre-cut shredded lettuce, etc |
Answer: | I only have these. Hope this helps: 8 cup = 9.4" x 6.4" x 3.74" 3.5 cup = 7.9" x 5.4" x 3.1" 1.6 cup = 6.24" x 4.24" x 2.5" 4oz = 4.74" x 3.24" x 2.24" |

User questions & answers
Question: | Anyone ever cut homemade bread with this |
Answer: | My kids practice with this knife (I got it when they were about 3-4 and 6ish), and they love it. It is sharp enough to cut softer fruits/veggies/sandwiches, and with enough "umph" can even chop apples/carrots. :) We love it! |
Question: | Would this be a suitable "practice knife" for a toddler? Is this knife sharp |
Answer: | No, it does not need sharpening. Lettuce is easy to cut through and this knife is a hard plastic wtih a serrated edge. Works great. |
Question: | Does it ever need to be sharpened? If so, how to sharpen it? Thanks |
Answer: | You know, it came with some kind of covering, but nothing that was reusable. It's a good knife though. Cuts through more than just lettuce. We use it all the time. Throw it in the top rack of the dishwasher. It's not all that sharp to the touch. |
Question: | Does it come with a sleeve |
Answer: | Never have used it as a marinade but have refrigerated the leftovers and eaten it the next day. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the difference between the frustration free and the traditional box |
Answer: | I didn't even know what the term "frustration free" meant, so I had to look it up. I actually don't even remember the packaging specifically. I just know that I was able to access the spinner very quickly. |
Question: | how large is it |
Answer: | It holds 2 to 2 1/2 bags of salad. It's quite large. |
Question: | how big is it |
Answer: | It's pretty big. I can pour more than gallon water in the clear bowl. The mesh bowl that you wash your greens in is a little smaller. My salad spinner must be an older model, my clear bowl is more curved. My clear bowl without the lid measures 10 1/4" x 5 1/2" tall |
Question: | is it bpa free |
Answer: | YES it is I just checked my box it came in and it has the NO BPA symbol on it |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between Softworks and Good Grips salad spinners |
Answer: | I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that question. We are very pleased with our Softworks Little Salad spinner though. |
Question: | does it work on a battery? How does the spinner know when the lettuce is dry |
Answer: | No battery. There is a black nob that pops up and you push it a few times to get it to spin. You will notice the lettuce is dry when no more water spins out of it. |
Question: | What are the dimensions on the small salad spinner |
Answer: | Across the top of the bowl is approximately 7 1/2" and is 4 1/4" deep. I make salads for myself and it is definitely the perfect size. If you are looking to wash enough lettuce for a family of 4 or more, it might be too small. Hope this is helpful. I had the same questions before I ordered mine. |
Question: | Is the bowl made of Waterford Crystal? Or at least Pyrex? Why else would a salad spinner cost |
Answer: | We've had ours for 7 years and it started coming apart due to the clips inside, not because it was broken. I called them and they replaced it because it has a 10-year warranty. The customer service was absolutely amazing. That's why it's 36 bucks. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use it like a tupperware, as well |
Answer: | I have the mini. Not sure of the capacity but the container holds 8-9 cups (measured with water). I would think the spinner bowl would hold about 6 cups. Works fine for the 2of us. |
Question: | What size are the holes on this little salad spinner? Will my alfalfa sprouts go threw the holes |
Answer: | According to OXO's site, the larger spinner is 10.5"x10.5"x5.9" and the smaller one is 8'' x 8'' x 7'', but even that is confusing since we don't know if that is with the plunger extended or locked, and I am guessing that it 5.9" is with the large one locked and 7" is with the small one extended, but it is not indicated at all. Source: http://www.oxo.com/p-1226-salad-spinner.aspx# http://www.oxo.com/p-490-little-salad-herb-spinner.aspx# |
Question: | How many cups is the large vs the small spinner |
Answer: | I'm at work and it's at home, so this is a rough estimate. It has about a 12 inch diameter and stands about 8 inches tall. I live alone, but it is probably big enough for 2-3 servings. |
Question: | What are the measurements (H+W+D) of the small size and the large size OXO Good grips Spinner. I need to determine where to store it |
Answer: | I would think that you could use it with other vegetables, but you may not get the desired results. This spinner consists of 2 pieces, the inside bowl is what actually spins and propels the water to the outside bowl. I believe water would spin away from the carrots and mushrooms, but I'm not sure just how dry they will be. I've only tried lettuce in the spinner...and it works great! Hope this helps! |
