Answer:	Ours goes in the dishwasher, top rack and we don't use the "heated dry" cycle. So far, no problems, but in fairness, this is not an item we use often - maybe six times a year.

Answer:	Do not wash it in your dishwasher. This is made from cast aluminum. The oxidizing effect from the dish washing detergent will turn the aluminum grey/black and will come off on your hands. Soap and water and a dish drainer.

Answer:	Works great on banana chunks. The slices would be too thick for drying for banana chips though.
Question:	Is there a locking mechanism for the handles
Answer:	Yes, it's a switch at the end of the handle that keeps it in the "locked" position for easy storage.
Question:	How well does this work on fresh mozzarella
Answer:	I have no idea, but I bet that it would work well, since you're dealing with blades and not wires that break. It would have to be small though as the jaws open up to about 1 3/4" on the inside of the jaw and the diameter is about 2 1/2".
