Answer:	It is protruded from side for slicing but when I want consistent size on my slices, I tend to use my Benriner mandolin because it takes less pressure to get the job done and more efficient at it.

Answer:	The knife is 13" overall with an 8" blade and the width of slicer's cutting area is 6" so yes, it is long enough to reach from side to side. A couple of things I'd like to share: When I first got the slicer, owing to my lack of experience I tried to use a 'long' stroke, sort of like sawing a 2 x 4. That did not end well and I've learned to use short, light strokes resulting in much better results. Also, in the beginning I tended to press down with the knife with the result that I mashed the bread to the consistency of modeling clay. Hence, that reference above to 'light' strokes . In the event your loaf is narrower than the cutting surface you may want to gently and carefully hold the loaf against one side while you're slicing. That will prevent the loaf from sliding side to side and should make the task a lot easier. I realize my reply may be a case of being asked the time and explaining how to make a watch but in any event, I hope it helps. Enjoy!

Answer:	there are numerous "spiralizers" on sale at Amazon. There are types that are almost like machines, and some that are almost like little manual pencil sharpeners. The one favored by most reviewers is by Paderno. This one is very handy, but it doesn't make long "noodle" type strands

Question:	There seems to be some kind of plate at the bottom of housing. is this a manufacturing error? if so, how do i remove it? or exchange it
Answer:	Not sure we are talking about the same thing - BUT, the photo on the left is of the housing & shredder, tube (and food pusher inside the tube). The housing attaches directly into the in stand mixer but removing the small plate or button on the mixer and screwing in the attachment. It comes with directions and photos if that helps. I find it very easy to use and wish I had bought one years ago. It's the BEST thing for shredding blocks of cheese, potatoes and zucchini.
Question:	Is it BPA free
Answer:	There is nothing indicating either way on box or paperwork. It does have an email for any questions you may have [email protected]. I love mine!!

Question:	Material of the grip? Some silicone gets sticky after a while
Answer:	I have used it several times without the storage container. There is a rubber gasket around the base that keeps it in place when using it without the storage container. The rubber on mine is grippy.
