It is a very commonly used steel in kitchen knives, and is the primary steel used by big brands like Wusthof, Mercer, and Messermeister. It is a good steel when heat treated well (don't assume it is equal between all brands and models that use it), and takes and holds a good edge, while remaining easy to sharpen. It will usually be softer but more ductile than VG-10 and AUS-10, so less likely to chip. Typical hardness is 56-59 RC, while VG-10 and AUS-10 will usually be advertised as 60-62 RC. Tuo seems to have done a good job with their treat (in general), and you will probably be impressed with this knife's performance.

Question:	Hello, The can opener I received has broken, where can I repace it
Answer:	I'm thinking that you may have dropped it. That would have damagedthe gears or the blade. I have opened hundreds of cans with mine, and I hope it will last forever. This can opener really rocks. K. Colton
Question:	The lid will fall into the can after it cuts
Answer:	I have used a similar opener to open cat food cans and I found that (possibly because of the design of the can) that cans that have the "pull-tab" type of opening often would leave "little" bits of metal (from the can lid) in the food. When I discovered this I, of course, freaked, because I didn't want my cat to ingest these little bits of metal. Consequently, I stopped using the can opener and went back to using the "pull-tab". (NOTE: I thought that using this type of opener would allow me to "seal' the remaining contents if any with the "smooth-edged" can top. I have since found silicone caps that are much better than a metal can top and now them on all my cat food cans.)
Question:	Can it be used as a bottle opener
Answer:	If you are speaking about the big cans yes that's the reason why I brought it. I would not use it to open cans that need to be drained like tuna because the can opens from the side.
Question:	Is this dishwahsh safe
Answer:	I'm amazed that some people report 10+ years of consistent performance. Ours worked for maybe 4-5 years before becoming more difficult to use, and it is not as though we open a lot of cans. It has now been 9 years and it is almost unusable. It still opens some cans so long as you go around several times. But it has lost most of its convenience.

Answer:	Ive had one of these since 2004 and it works like the day i got it. Just effortlessly. Best kitchen gadgets hands down. Can opener and vegetable peelers are must-haves!!!
Question:	Is this a workable can-opener for left handers
Answer:	I am right handed, but I did try it just to see if I could open a can with my left hand and it seemed to work ok. I hope this is helpful to you.
Question:	Description says dishwasher safe yet product packaging says hand wash. Is it dishwasher safe
Answer:	I spoke to OXO agent directly and this can opener is not dishwasher safe. None of their can openers are dishwasher safe. I purchased a PowerLix can opener from Amazon and it is dishwasher safe and I have had it in the dishwasher several times. Look at this can opener if you want to put it in the dishwasher.
Question:	Are the cogs made of hardened steel like old ones were made of so they would last and not strip out like Walmart junk
Answer:	I’m going to say no. If you had a pair of the old ones, these don’t compare. More like Walmart junk in my opinion. I don’t expect them to last long.
