I got this to give to my mother-in-law who not only loves wine, but also displays the corks in a vase in her dining room. The only issue with that is the corks have the unsightly holes in the middle from corkscrews. This is a tool that prevents that. It grips the cork like tweezers and yanks it out the old fashioned way. It can be difficult to get used to and understand, so I made a video to help those of you who are using it for the first time. It takes some practice, definitely. My first bottle, I ended up popping the cork through into the wine (had to finish the whole bottle haha). The important trick to note is to make sure each blade is way past the bottom of the cork. This ensures a good grip on the whole cork while you twist it out. I first got a cork puller as a promotional item, years ago, and in the course of several moves I lost it. I finally decided it was long past time to quit fighting with corkscrews and go back to what works. This cork puller is well made and I expect it to last the rest of my life--with no more destroyed corks to worry about. It's easy to slip in (just rock it back and forth while pushing gently), and to remove a whole, undamaged cork, just twist and pull.

When I first got this I did have to wrap a rubber band around the prong cover to get enough grip to remove it, but that's probably due to arthritis. I also wiped down the prongs. And then I used it to successfully remove, in seconds, a cork which had been pretty thoroughly mutilated by a corkscrew without ever budging from the bottle. I'm very, very happy with this item.
