Answer:	They will soften up I do throw mine in a laundry net bag and wash them frequently when they get soiled.

Answer:	The 16 inches is the measurement from tip to end. I bake a lot and always hit my arms on the hot oven racks- so I went with the 16” to cover more if my forearms. When you cook- you do not want tight mitts- you need to take them off quickly. The measurements are not for hand size- just length.

Answer:	Too much stiff for my liking. I don't want them for grilling - just for oven. Too stiff to safely handle glass pans. I may try washing them.

Answer:	I have arthritis. I don't use 'oven mitts' but use the double oven glove - a long item with slip your hands in 'mitts without thumbs' at either end. Very protective of your hands and body. Cuisinart makes a wonderful one which is easy to use and you would love it I'm sure. Fabulous for taking large baking dishes out of oven or even smaller ones. They have been used in UK forever and as an expat I was happy to find this in US.
