2 best benchtop bottle cappers
Benchtop bottle cappers are essential tools used in bottling and capping processes, especially in the context of home brewing and small-scale beverage production. These devices are designed to securely seal bottles with caps, ensuring the freshness and integrity of the contents. Here is what you need to know about benchtop bottle cappers:
Purpose: Benchtop bottle cappers are primarily used for sealing bottles containing liquids such as beer, wine, soda, or other homemade beverages. They are commonly used by homebrewers, winemakers, and small-scale producers who want to package their products in glass bottles.
Types: There are different types of benchtop bottle cappers available, but two of the most common are manual and semi-automatic cappers.
Manual Cappers: These cappers require the user to manually place a cap on the bottle and then use a lever or crimping mechanism to seal the cap. Manual cappers are suitable for small-batch operations and are relatively straightforward to operate.
Semi-Automatic Cappers: Semi-automatic cappers are more advanced and efficient. They often come with a motorized or pneumatic capping head that can quickly cap multiple bottles in succession with minimal manual effort. These are ideal for higher production volumes.
Capping Mechanism: Benchtop bottle cappers typically use one of the following capping mechanisms:
Crown Capping: This mechanism is common for sealing bottles used for carbonated beverages like beer and soda. Crown cappers use crown caps (metal caps with a crimped edge) and a bell-shaped capping head to secure the cap in place.
Screw Capping: Screw capping mechanisms are used for bottles with threaded caps, such as wine bottles. These cappers use a motorized or manual head to twist the cap onto the bottle.
Adjustability: Many benchtop bottle cappers offer adjustable settings to accommodate various bottle sizes and cap types. This adjustability ensures a tight and secure seal regardless of the bottle's dimensions.
Durability: Benchtop bottle cappers are typically constructed from durable materials like stainless steel or heavy-duty plastic to withstand the rigors of frequent use.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and lubrication of moving parts, is essential to ensure the capper's longevity and consistent performance.
Safety: Users should be cautious while operating benchtop bottle cappers, especially when dealing with moving parts and mechanical components. Follow safety guidelines provided by the manufacturer to prevent accidents.
Cost: The price of benchtop bottle cappers can vary depending on their type, features, and brand. Manual cappers are generally more affordable than semi-automatic models, but the choice depends on your bottling needs.
Benchtop bottle cappers are valuable tools for anyone involved in bottling beverages, whether for personal enjoyment or small-scale production. They simplify the capping process, ensuring that bottles are sealed tightly and effectively, preserving the quality and freshness of the contents. When choosing a benchtop bottle capper, consider your specific bottling requirements and production volume to select the most suitable option for your needs.

Question: | In what country was this tool manufactured |
Answer: | Made in Italy. I have mine mounted to a stool and is perfect and fast. |
Question: | Can this cap a european 330ml and 500ml bottles? For example paulaner german bottles which has a different spout from american beer bottles |
Answer: | I am not familiar with these bottles. What I can tell you is that the Colt Capper permits a bottle up to 16" high to be capped. The caps I use are 26.5 mm and I cap both 12 oz and 22 oz (bomber) bottles. I like this capper much better than a similar model from Ferrari because of it's machined versus formed cap setter. It seals the caps very well. |
Question: | Can this capper be used to press in wine bottle corks as well |
Answer: | There's a different press for corking called a corker of all things. You can find a single level bench press corker or a dual lever hand corker. I used the hand corker myself: https://www.amazon.com/Home-Portugese-Double-Level-Corker/dp/B000FRWJNE/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3RTSIW1O8INHU&keywords=wine+corker&qid=1565358424&s=gateway&sprefix=corker%2Caps%2C224&sr=8-3 good luck! |
Question: | Does it work for ring pull crown caps |
Answer: | Just use regular bottles such as Summit, Alaskan, New Belgium, etc...Stay away from pull caps and screw off bottles. |
