Answer: I see other people saying no, but there is a stopping mechanism in the straw that prevents backflow. They may be able to suck hard enough to get liquid past the mechanism without biting, but I do believe biting the straw with their teeth/gums helps facilitate the flow.

Answer: I don't know if it's like the advent cups, but the straw comes off and the lid does not separate. The tricky thing is washing the part of the lid that the straw "hides" in when it is closed. I do it by hand and feel it gets pretty clean with a sponge.

Answer: I'm not familiar with a Moccamaster. I purchased this brush to clean my husband's travel mug. The brush is actually 13" to the tip of the bristles and about 8+ inches of stem and brush. Answer: you could but the bottles are small, about 4 to 5 oz. My olive oil bottles are about 16 oz with pour spouts for cooking, adding to salads, etc.
