There's also a little thin lip to help place it correctly that adds another little bit for a total of 2.2" diameter, but the key diameter to consider is 2.1". Other splash guards like Guyots are typically very similar in diameter, but they aren't designed to fit around the insulated lids in Hydro Flasks and some other similar bottles so they get pushed down pretty far and have a greater chance of falling in.
