A global GPS tracker is a device that uses the Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine and record the precise location of an object or person, regardless of where they are on Earth. These trackers work by receiving signals from multiple satellites and using the information to calculate the exact position.

Here are some key points about global GPS trackers:

  1. Tracking Capability: Global GPS trackers can provide real-time tracking information. This means you can monitor the location of the tracked object or person in real-time.

  2. Applications:

    • Asset Tracking: They are commonly used to track valuable assets like vehicles, equipment, and shipments. This is particularly useful for businesses that need to keep tabs on their assets' locations for security and logistical reasons.
    • Personal Tracking: Some GPS trackers are designed for personal use, such as keeping track of children, elderly family members, or even pets.
  3. Geofencing: Many GPS trackers allow you to set up virtual boundaries called "geofences". When the tracked object or person enters or exits these predefined areas, you can receive notifications.

  4. Data Storage and History: Some trackers have the capability to store location history data, allowing you to review past movements.

  5. Communication: Some advanced trackers come with additional features like two-way communication. This enables communication with the person carrying the tracker.

  6. Battery Life: Depending on the type of tracker and its usage, battery life can vary. Some trackers are designed for long-term deployments and may have a longer battery life.

  7. Connectivity: GPS trackers may use various means to communicate their location data. This can include cellular networks, satellite communication, or other wireless technologies.

  8. Access and Control: Many GPS trackers have accompanying apps or web platforms where users can access and control the tracking functions. This could include features like setting up alerts, reviewing historical data, and more.

  9. Water Resistance: Depending on the purpose of the tracker, some are designed to be water-resistant or even waterproof.

  10. Subscription Plans: Many GPS trackers require a subscription plan for continued service. This covers costs related to data transmission, server maintenance, and support.

Remember, when using GPS trackers, it's important to respect privacy and legal boundaries. Make sure you have the necessary permissions and follow all applicable laws and regulations.

If you're considering purchasing a GPS tracker, it's recommended to do thorough research on the specific product and its capabilities to ensure it meets your needs.

User questions & answers

Question: Can these knives be used with a magnetic knife holder block rather than one with slots
Answer: USA
Question: The description says the bread knife is 5", I imagine it's longer than that
Answer: We found that rsw stands for reduced wall steel. This gives the metal more flexibility. Not sure why the Buck website does not have this with the 503 Prince knife. We are very pleased with the purchase. It's a great knife!

Product features

Razor Sharp Edge

The most important feature of any knife is its edge, and the GLOBAL edge is truly its signature. The majority of the GLOBAL knives are sharpened or ground on both sides of the blade, just like Western style knives. However, their edges are ground steeply to a point as illustrated in Fig. 1, and to an acute angle. This is in contrast to Western or European knives that use a beveled edge, Fig. 2. The straight edge results in a dramatically sharper knife which stays sharper longer. The edge on a GLOBAL knife is so large and prominent that it is easily seen with the naked eye and extends a quarter of an inch or more up from the tip of the knife.

Cromova 18 Stainless Steel

CROMOVA 18 is a steel, with a special mixture of molybdenum, vanadium and chromium. The exact combination is our trade secret, but the steel is made to be hard enough so that the knives retain their sharpness, yet soft enough to sharpen with a whetstone. The high chromium content gives the knives excellent resistance to rust and staining.

Global 8" Chef's Knife

Global

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The chef's knife is the multipurpose workhorse of the kitchen. Perfect for mincing, cutting, chopping, slicing and prep work. The "workhorse" of the kitchen is perfect for cutting, chopping, slicing and prep work.

High tech from tip to handle, Global knives from Japan created a sensation when they burst onto the world's culinary stage as an alternative to traditional European-style cutlery. Blades are made of hard molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel and "face-ground" with a long taper rather than a short bevel so edges remain sharp longer than even the best high-carbon stainless-steel knives. Edges also are ground at a more acute angle than traditional European-style knives and arrive from the factory razor-sharp. Although Global also makes a "heavyweight" line for cooks who prefer hefty knives, its original knives--of which this 8-inch chef's knife is an example--have thinner blades and are lighter than traditional European-style knives. Global also dispensed with bolsters on its original knives to reduce weight. Balance is achieved by injecting a precise amount of sand for a particular blade style into a hollow handle. To ensure balance is continuous, the sand flows inside the handle as a blade is maneuvered. A finger notch between blade and handle provides safety.

Stainless-steel handles are Global's most striking feature. They're molded to fit the hand and dimpled to resist slipping. Smaller around than many European-style handles, they're easy for small-handed cooks to grasp and seamless for sanitation. Global recommends using a ceramic sharpener or a diamond steel instead of a metal sharpening steel for its knives, supplemented by a synthetic whetstone, a ceramic whetstone, or a Shinkansen sharpener. Global also makes a Sharpening Guide Rail so blades can be honed on a whetstone at the proper angle. Global knives should be hand washed to protect edges. They carry a lifetime warranty against defects and breakage. --Fred Brack

User questions & answers

Question: Are the santoku and the chefs knife basically the same
Answer: we have ours in a block, but they can be used with a magnetic holder
Question: Is the blade 7” or the entire knife
Answer: The bread knife has an 8.5” blade and a total length of 13.5”. It’s the G-9 if you want to check the specs on Global’s site. This is a great selection of some of the most useful knives in one package.
Question: how is the grip on this knife? i do tons of meal prep and cut lots of veggies and root veggies and can get a blister from cutting
Answer: New Micarta will appear lighter in color than Micarta that has been handled. Oils from your skin will enhanced the natural patina of the material over time. If your knife is kept in an area that receives direct sunlight (i.e. the dashboard of your vehicle or a windowsill), then the Micarta will fade as most everything else will.
Question: Is this knife forged
Answer: Yes. Came razor sharp

User questions & answers

Question: I generally use a chef's knife for most vegetables. What are the advantages of this knife over a chef's knife for this task
Answer: They do not come with any sort of protective sleeves or covers for permanent storage. They just come in packaging that protects them during shipping.
Question: Is this a single or double bevel knife? I'm buying for a leftie so unless they make a single bevel specifically for lefties I need a double, right
Answer: Yes. The logo is stamped on the blade.
Question: Is this a suitable knife for cutting thick skinned squashes such as Hokkaido or hubbard or should one purchase a Global cleaver instead? Thanks
Answer: yes, the knives are sharp. but I also bought a global knife sharpener. Knives stay sharp, but it's always good to tweak them .
Question: What is the width of the knife? Planning to buy a non global block for storage
Answer: Each knife comes in a separate box with a zip-tie

Product description

Global GS38 gs-38-3 1/2 inch, 9cm Western style paring knife, 3. 5", stainless steel

  • Ideal for paring, peeling and coring, 3 1/2 blade
  • Global 3-1/2" Western style paring Knife with molded handle

User questions & answers

Question: I've been using a paring knife with a jagged edge not smooth to peel the skin off oranges &grapefruit, this looks like a smooth blade, will it work
Answer: I cannot answer your question. Only have the G-23 chefs knife. But after care on soft cutting surfaces, cannot slice a tomato :( I have not sharpened yet. Metal seems soft..
Question: What angle is the edge
Answer: The blade is 7 inches from the very tip to the end of the blade. The entire knife including the handle is close to double that length.
Question: Does this knife have the thin handle
Answer: The handle has concave dimples so it should not lead to blisters. The dimples allow better grip. The handle is a solid piece and could be slippery if wet without these dimples. Maybe only if your grip is really tight for some reason it would irritate or cause blisters. I love this knife so far.
Question: How does this knife compare to the Global GSF46 Paring Knife
Answer: It's hard to find a definitive answer to that question. I've found references to it as stamped and as forged. I believe it is made the same way their regular chef knives are. The blades are cut from a sheet much like cookies, and the handle is made from two pieces of steel welded together. The blade is then welded to the handle which is filled with sand for balance. If anyone has first hand knowledge of the construction please speak up.

Global 7-inch Stainless Steel Chef's Knife

Global

Based on 143 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Global Knives have two most innovative features: the edge and the way they are balanced.

The most important feature of any knife is its edge. The blade is made from one of the finest steels, Cromova 18 stainless steel. This special steel is ice-tempered and hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of 56-58 degrees, which remains razor-sharp longer than any other steel and resists rust, stains and corrosion. The blade edge is ground on both sides of the blade like western style blades; however the edge is ground to a straight point rather than a beveled edge which results in a razor-sharp edge that will stay sharp longer.

To balance the blade, all Global knives have a unique hollow handle filled with the right amount of sand to create the perfect balance.

Global knives are truly unique.

  • Blade construction: CROMOVA 18 high carbon stainless steel
  • Balanced stainless steel molded dimpled handle provides safe grip
  • Blade edge is ground on each side, creating a straight sharp edge
  • Ideal for chopping, slicing and dicing vegetables, meats and fruits
  • Hand wash with gentle dish soap and dry

User questions & answers

Question: Where are these knives made
Answer: I like the smaller size over my chef's knife and if I am dicing a lot of vegetables, this feels more precise for when I have to use brunoise cuts.
Question: How long is the actual blade
Answer: This is a double bevel so you're all set. I bought this for myself years ago and then bought it for friends as gifts and I've had no complaints.
Question: Does debris/liquid/etc get stuck in the handle? It looks like theres holes in the handle where gunk can buildup
Answer: Absolutely! It's just heavy enough to handle all thick skinned veggies but still has a very fine blade for for any dicing afterwards. Much better multi use knife than a cleaver.
Question: Is this knife blade made of the same " high-tech molybdenum/vanadium " as other Global knives
Answer: At the widest point -- near the handle -- it is 2"

User questions & answers

Question: Is this knive heavy to hold ??? I have a ceramic 5 inch and love how light it is
Answer: Yes it is a smooth blade but it will work great for peeling skins. Keep in mind this knife is extremely sharp. It also should be sharpened with a global knife sharpener as the blade angle is specific and needs to be sharpened correctly.
Question: is it still free shipping to oversea
Answer: I think it's 10°
Question: Does this come with a blade guard
Answer: about 3 times thicker than the blade - a wonderful knife - I love it!
Question: does this knife come in a "global" box? (for gift giving
Answer: I had a completely different feel. The GS-38 is on the only knife I've seen in the Global line that has a nice rounded handle feel, like a traditional chef's knife (just scaled down). I've used the GSF46 and it feels like a table knife. The width of the handle is not much more than the blade, say 1/4-3/8". I personally do not like the feel as it makes it difficult for me to produce fine controlled slices with such a thin handle. I would imagine if you are used to holding a small cutting knife in your finger tips, instead of wrapping you fingers around the handle then it would be great. Now matter which Global knife I've used they all make surgical scalpels feel like steak knives it is amazing how sharp they are and easy to cut with.

Meticulously crafted for superior all-around performance, Global's kitchen knives leave no detail unattended. This versatile 7-inch vegetable knife from the Hollow Ground line is a case in point. The blade is molded from the finest molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel, giving it extraordinary strength as well as rust- and corrosion-free durability. Ground straight to a point and ice-tempered, the cutting edge is extremely precise and maintains its sharpness longer than any beveled blade. Oval notches along the blade reduce friction and keep food from clinging as the knife cuts.

Equally as important as the blade, Global's signature handle design offers impeccable quality and balance. Its steel surface is molded to fit the hand and dimpled to resist slipping. It also tapers as it reaches the end, reducing its weight for easier dicing and chopping. Sleeker than many European-style handles, this tool is comfortable for small-handed cooks to grasp. The knife also keeps a trim and light profile by eliminating the bolster and instead balancing the tool with sand injected into the handle that flows as the knife is maneuvered. For optimum sanitation, the tool is constructed completely without seams. This knife is best washed by hand and sharpened with a ceramic sharpener or diamond steel. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects and breakage. --Kara Karll

User questions & answers

Question: What's the difference between this Global vegetable knife and a Nakiri knife? My (uneducated) guess: they are the same. Am I wrong
Answer: Amazon Charges Shipping
Question: is this knife dishwasher safe
Answer: Depends on your definition of 'blade guard'. The Global was nicely packaged in a manufacturer's box with a cardboard sleeve covering the blade. I don't consider 'that' to be a "blade guard". However, the knife is a very sweet addition to any want-to-be chefs repertoire... -
Question: How often does it need to be sharpened, and does it require a special sharpener
Answer: Yes - nothing special, but a cardboard, global-branded box. As a side note, as you state that it is for a gift, check if the receiver's culture is OK about giving knives as a gift (I'm chinese, and it's a bit of a no-no). Otherwise, go for it - great knife that a cook would love and appreciate
Question: Does this knife work for left-handers or is it made for right handers only
Answer: Chromova 18. It’s a hardened stainless alloy. Outstanding knife - buy it!

User questions & answers

Question: Are these the same quality global knives one can buy at sur la table? the knife looks the same but bears different bar code
Answer: Does not come with sheath. Still my favorite knife ever. Holds edge and well balanced. Should be kept in block or magnet so it doesn’t contact other objects. You take care of this knife it will serve you for a long time.
Question: Is this a good knife for mangos, fruit and vegetables or is the paring knife better
Answer: I think you can google the different purposes of the edges... however, I purchased the fine edge and I LOVE it. My chef friend recommended it to me because I know nothing about cutlery... I have been incredibly happy with it. Just be careful with it because it will slice through your finger quite easily! Excellent quality and excellent product.
Question: I’m looking for a serrated knife to cut ice cubes for drinks at home. Is there one specifically for this
Answer: The Global Model X Chef's Knife (Models GF-98 and the hollow edge version, GF-99) are produced exclusively for us, Cutlery and More, an authorized retailer of Global knives. We've been selling Global knives for about 30 years and continually receive requests for a heavier and wider chef's knife. So, we had the opportunity to travel to Japan and meet with Global to discuss this and after a couple of years, we finally got the design right and were able to convince them to produce this for us. So, this is 100% an authentic Global products. If you prefer a heavier chef's knife with a more broad blade and a more comfortable/larger and longer handle, then you will prefer the GF-98 or GF-99 over the standard Global G-2 model.
Question: Is it flexible or stiff
Answer: My partner uses this knife as she is a professional chef so I can't see it bring heavy or she wouldn't want it...she loves the knife and has many global knifes.

User questions & answers

Question: is the large knife the Global G@ model
Answer: Nakiri knives are generally more shaped like a cleaver, though they aren't as big and heavy as a cleaver. They just have more of a rectangular shape. They are even less pointy than this Global vegetable knife. But they aren't extremely different.
Question: Where are these knives manufactured
Answer: No, it is not. Their product documentation explicitly says Hand Wash Only. Bouncing around in the washer against the rack or other cutlery would damage or dull the blade quickly. If you're OK with losing the edge or constantly re-sharpening, I guess that's one thing, but you can save a whole lot of money by getting a no-name knife from the grocery store.
Question: what size are they
Answer: I'm not a professional. We use this knife a lot and sharpen it about once a month. We use an Edgecraft manual diamond hone sharpener. Just a few passes through the coarser step one and a few passes through the finer step 2 side and we are good to go. The knife arrives with a razor edge but we have not maintained that level of sharpness in our home kitchen. Hope this is helpful.
Question: What is the warranty and have you ever had to use it
Answer: This knife is dual beveled so it works as well left or right handed.Chefs Corner Store
