OXO bread knives are a popular type of kitchen knife produced by OXO, a well-known brand in the field of kitchen and household products. These knives are specifically designed for slicing bread and are a part of OXO's line of cutlery and kitchen accessories. Here's what you should know about OXO bread knives:
Purpose: OXO bread knives are designed primarily for slicing bread. Their serrated blades make it easy to cut through the crust of bread without crushing or tearing the soft interior, resulting in clean and even slices.
Serrated Blade: The defining feature of a bread knife is its serrated blade. These knives have small, pointed teeth along the edge that grip and cut through the bread's crust while maintaining the integrity of the loaf's interior. The serrations are designed to minimize crumbs and maintain the bread's texture.
Blade Length: OXO bread knives come in various blade lengths to accommodate different types and sizes of bread. Common lengths range from 8 to 10 inches, with longer blades being suitable for larger loaves.
Materials: OXO typically manufactures its bread knife blades from high-carbon stainless steel. This material is known for its durability, resistance to corrosion, and the ability to hold a sharp edge.
Handle Design: OXO places a strong emphasis on ergonomic design. OXO bread knives often feature comfortable and non-slip handles that make them easy to hold and control while cutting bread. The handles are designed to reduce hand fatigue during extended use.
Versatility: While primarily designed for bread, OXO bread knives can also be used for other soft foods with a tough exterior and a soft interior, such as tomatoes and cakes. The serrated edge allows for clean cuts in various culinary applications.
Maintenance: Like all kitchen knives, OXO bread knives require proper care to maintain their performance. They should be hand-washed and dried promptly after use to prevent corrosion and ensure a long-lasting, sharp edge.
Availability: OXO bread knives are widely available in kitchenware stores, department stores, and online retailers. They are often sold individually or as part of knife sets offered by OXO.
Warranty: OXO is known for its customer-friendly approach to product quality. Many of their products, including bread knives, come with warranties that provide peace of mind to customers.
In summary, OXO bread knives are specialized kitchen tools designed for slicing bread efficiently and cleanly. With their serrated blades and ergonomic handles, they make the task of cutting bread easier and more precise. OXO's commitment to quality and user-friendly design has made their bread knives a popular choice among home cooks and professional chefs alike.

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the thickness of blade |
Answer: | At the base of the blade it is 1 and 3/16th wide. Closer to the tip it is 1 inch. |
Question: | Does it come with a sheath |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Is this made in China or US |
Answer: | China |
Question: | How do you get the plastic piece off |
Answer: | I'm sure you've removed it already, but for others who have the little plastic guard above the handle: Do not attempt to slide the plastic guard up over the knife toward the top. The little 'knob' on the right side, with the arrow on it, should be pushed forward (not up), away from you...and the guard will snap right off. If you keep fiddling with it, you'll get it, but of course be careful not to touch the blade. And fwiw, i too really like this knife. |

User questions & answers
Question: | dishwasher safe |
Answer: | I always separate the two parts and wash them by hand immediately after using and let them dry apart in the drying rack. Only takes a second. I do the same with all of my good knives. I have had some of them for 45 years and they are as good as new. Can't imaging why someone would want to let something so wonderful sit dirty in a dishwasher when it is so simple to wash in a second. |
Question: | Will they work for spatchcocking a turkey |
Answer: | Yes, they're really sharp and great for cutting through chicken or turkey. |
Question: | what size are these scissors |
Answer: | These excellent scissors are 9" long from tip of blade to the grips. The grip part interior is 2.75". If I measure one of the blades while held open by my man hand, 3" of blade is available. I recommend these scissors! Only cavet: separate and dry these scissors regularly. |
Question: | Can these be put in dishwaher |
Answer: | I have a pair of these scissors that I use constantly and run through the dishwasher at least 3-4 times a week and have done for over 6 years. Never a problem - no rusting, no dulling. I do separate the two blades and I run the heated dry cycle. The strictly decorative OXO logo just came off last week after all those washes. |

Care and handling of Millennia cutlery
The performance of a knife can be diminished if not cared for properly.
Cutlery should never be washed in a dishwasher because intense heat and harsh detergents may cause the handle to deteriorate. Carefully wash by hand with soap and warm water, rinse and dry with a soft towel. Do not soak or submerge in water for long periods of time or use chlorine bleach because it can pit and discolor the blade. Avoid soaking in aluminum or stainless steel sinks because these metals may cause pitting on the blade.
Store in a cutlery block or sheath to preserve the cutting edges and prevent injuries.

Answer: | Are you making pastry or pie crust? Then you do need to roll. try a wine bottle. it works. if you keep baking, get a rollinping |
Question: | Are the side edges polished smooth. My current pastry blender slices my hand if it slips |
Answer: | Yes the edges are smooth. I just went and rechecked it by rubbing it across my hand. However I am still very careful when I'm pushing the mixture thru the blades, no matter how smooth the blender may be I never want to take a chance on cutting myself. |
Question: | Are the blades strong & stiff, or do they bend when cutting in cold butter |
Answer: | The blades are the best I have used. I'm on my second one in two years. It's the handle on the sides that eventually breaks. |
Question: | are the blade sharp and strong enough to fine mince chop raw cabbage or raw onion slices |
Answer: | I would say no, for 2 reasons - the blades aren't super sharp and they are too far apart to mince finely. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the bread knife really sharp? And what colour and material is the knife handle |
Answer: | This is the guard that we recommend with this knife- https://www.amazon.com/Mercer-Culinary-10-Inch-2-Inch-Knife/dp/B005P0OSA8/ |
Question: | where is it made |
Answer: | Most wavy edge bread knives have the sharpened side facing the right, which can certainly be used by left or right handled people. It does not make a difference in the cutting performance, but ours too is sharpened the traditional way on the right. |
Question: | can't tell handle composition |
Answer: | Wish I knew. I couldn't figure that out either. Same knife though as I have purchased a blue, a gray, and black. I have given two as gifts. All the same. |
Question: | looks left - handed? serrations on left side |
Answer: | The widest part is where blade and handle meet. As close as I can tell, it is 1 3/4 inches. The knife is very sharp. I have limited storage so I later purchased the Mercer Culinary 10" X 2" knife guard. |
