Answer:	No. You would have to have a bottom to hold water and a cover for the top, neither of which come with it. You can poach eggs in any pan filled with water by heating the water and swirling it before dropping the egg in. Or buy a different pan meant to be used to poach eggs. This pan is intended to fry individual eggs for sandwiches.

Question:	Is This Dishwasher Safe
Answer:	No. It is made in China. All I can say is that if I were you I would definitely get a Lodge USA made cast iron skillet instead. I have had plenty of these Chinese cast iron skillets and I got rid of them. They are thinner, they do not hold heat correctly, they smoke heavily and the iron content is not pure. Sometimes they even give off some sort of weird toxic smelling chemical odor. Do not take a chance. The Lodge cast iron skillets WAY better and The taste is SO much better because of the pure iron content. Trust me on this.
