User questions & answers

Question: Does this heat faster than cast iron
Answer: pretty much the same....likely not retain heat as long though
Question: Do you use it for pancakes? If so, how do they turn out
Answer: Yes, after I cooked the bacon. Crispy edges on the pancakes, my granddaughter who wouldn't eat pancakes loved them.
Question: How "non-stick" is this skillet? Is there any special required care
Answer: It is not a non-stick pan, but is relatively non-stick. Think of your black cast iron skillet/pan. Care and use instructions included. I use mine on the grill and don't have any problems
Question: What are the true dimensions of the griddle? I see two sets of dimensions: 18 x10 and 21.2 x
Answer: 18 x 10 are the cooking surface dimensions. 21.2 x 10.2 are the exterior dimensions which include the handles.

User questions & answers

Question: induction usage possible
Answer: Yes the rule if a magnet will stick to the bottom it is induction ready I have only used mine on my induction cooktop.
Question: Anyone with experience cooking salmon? Suggestions? Recipies? (I don't like highly-seasoned foods
Answer: 1. season your salmon with some oil seasoning paste (oil + seasoning+ salt+ other spices of your choice). Let rest for 10-15 mins for the oil seasoning paste to be absorbed into the fish. If you don't like highly-seasoned foods, then make sure you buy good quality salmon, and you can just season it with some salt and a thin layer of oil, then adding some fresh lemon juice before serving. If you want to skip the oil too, then you need the part of the salmon that has more fat)2. Heat the pan until very very very hot, you don't need to put oil into the pan.3. Use medium high heat. Put the fish with the side you want to present on the plate DOWN. Seal for 2-4 mins depending on the thickness of your salmon.4. Flip the fish when you see the meat is almost half way cooked (you will notice the cooked part has a slightly different color)5. Turn OFF the heat or turn the heat down to low, because the heat from the pan will cook the meat for you and this process will prevent from over-cooking your fish.6. Cook for about 2 to 3 mins or until you see the color of the fish meat is slightly pinkish and when you press the fish with your finger the meat will not bounce back.7. Serve with some freshly cut lemon wedges, the squeeze the lemon juice on the fish before eating.
Question: The best way to clean a cast iron grill pan
Answer: Cast iron cookware is my favorite! I usually just rinse with hot water and use a mild scrubber on mine. After some time, however, my cast iron gets buildup on the sides - I put the pans in the self-cleaning oven and they come out like new. They do have to be re-seasoned but that doesn't take much effort. I'm sure it would work fine on this ridged pan that is sure to be more difficult to clean.
Question: how does this compare with the much more expensive enamel coated version? and why
Answer: Much better. I have this Lodge and the LC enamel version. Trust me on this - never buy this style pan with enamel coating. Grill type pans are more difficult to clean because of the ridges, nooks & crannies. Because cast iron seasons better and becomes more non-stick than enamel, it is MUCH easier to clean with use. My LC is in the garage awaiting disposal. I love LC, but their grill pans should be avoided.

User questions & answers

Question: How high is the lip on the pan? Could I use it to fry something in a half inch of oil
Answer: Lip is about one half inch and rounded. I would never use this pan with more than a coating of oil. Using more could cause a spill and fire.
Question: I like to make small personal pizzas, will this work instead of the 14" pizza pan which is too big
Answer: It is excellent for this purpose, but you should also consider the Lodge pizza griddle. I preheat to 500, insert my pizza on a pizza screen and then slide off onto the cast iron after 4-5 minutes. I lightly oil the screen but not the pan. The 14" griddle is a terrific pan for many purposes, and it retains higher heat even if you're only using a small part of the surface. Some people use it as a "pizza stone." I use both these pans very frequently.
Question: Does this pan work on an induction stove
Answer: It works.... but you've got to really watch it ... The cast Iron ware I use (1 vintage wagner bought at a yard sale, and 2 new lodge products) gets too hot and in turn heats the induction plate so high it turns off... I have a salton portable cook top from costco (similar to ASIN:B00FAD57SC Salton Induction Cooker Energy efficiency 300W-1800W, 140F-465F)
Question: How about its performance on an electric stove for making indian rotis/chapattis/breads
Answer: The Lodge skillet is EXCELLENT tool in making a variety of foods including rotis/chapatis/breads, grilling etc. Have been using it for the last 20 yrs. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it work on electric cooktops
Answer: The chemical used is a plant oil. Flaxseed has been proven to be the best. The following link will give you the science as to why flaxseed is best as well as instructions. https://www.cooksillustrated.com/how_tos/5820-the-ultimate-way-to-season-cast-iron Remember that acidic foods such as tomatoes, lemons and limes can unseasonably your pans.
Question: What is it pre-seasoned with
Answer: Yes, you can and probably should season the outside so you never have to deal with rust. Flaxseed oil holds up the best & creates the thinnest, shiniest coating. If you don't have that, anything like bacon fat, shortening, or a neutral cooking oil with a high smoke point will also work. Just preheat your oven to 350 degrees, rub a thin layer of oil on the inside & outside of your pan, and leave it in the oven for 45 minutes to an hour. You don't have to do it every time you use the pan, but once in a while does help.
Question: Question for my kbbq folks. can you cook an entire steak/pork belly on this griddle? is it safe to coat the griddle with pork or beef fat beforehand
Answer: I'll be truthful here. I have bought Chinese cast iron skillet's like this one before and returned them. Go with a Lodge instead, you won't regret it. I'll tell you why. With the China cast iron skillet's the iron is not pure enough and does NOT give the great taste to the food like a Lodge. Lodge cast iron is way better and more pure iron content. With China the taste is not there when you cook your food. Trust me on this.
Question: Where are Cuisinel cast irons made
Answer: The pan is all aluminum. I think it would tolerate up to 450 degrees F or more. At a higher temp than 450 degrees F, it may expand or contract or change shape but I think you could still use it afterward. However the highest temp I have used it for so far is 375 degrees F. The rolled edge has steel wire under the rim to give it strength. I love this pan for baking cookies, slab pies, and jelly roll cakes.

Simply put, The Ringer is set to last as long as your cast iron skillet

User questions & answers

Question: Besides cooked on bits, will this remove whitish or grey spots on the inside of my stainless steel frying pans? I prefer not to use steel wool
Answer: yes, it's removable. it's more like an extra part of the wallet, very convenient.
Question: does this need to be oiled to prevent rust? also, i have le creuset enameled cast iron dutch oven and le creuset enamel coated stoneware. will this ruin the enamel on those or scratch it
Answer: I measured the wallet front cove. Length: 11cm Width: 8.5cm hope it helps!
Question: Is this product made in the United States? If not, what is the country origin
Answer: Hi!has two compartments for money
Question: Sorry for the most mundane of questions. But I'm a bachelor right out of college learning about stuff like this...How does it work
Answer: This was a bad chose! No it does not have a coin pouch. The material is very stiff, the corners too edgy. Very difficult to place in pocket and it does not pull out with ease. I decided to purchase another softer material and this one is still in it's box.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you use this on a glass top electric stove
Answer: Yes you can.
Question: I just received this griddle; it doesn't seem that the bottom will actually touch my induction cooktop. Will it work if it doesnt touch the surface
Answer: Works great on our induction cooktop on either side. Heats very rapidly if you want, but of course the way to heat cast iron is slowly so it comes to the temp you want to cook at. Cast iron is of course way better than the clad cookware that can get loud from vibrations as the different layers absorb the magnetic energy at different rates. This also doubles as a great defrosting plate from stuff from the freezer. Your great-great grandchildren will be glad you bought this as they're using it.
Question: Will this work on glass top
Answer: According to www.lodgemfg.com, it will work on your glass cooktop. It does say however to not slide the cast iron on the glass top. This link should give you more answers. http://www.lodgemfg.com/useandcare/seasoned-cast-iron
Question: How well does this griddle work on electric stoves
Answer: Be careful, cast iron can scratch your glass top stove but it will work on it!

About Camp Chef

Great tasting food will always bring people together and Camp Chef has that figured out. As an industry leading manufacture for more than 20 years, Camp Chef produces high quality products offering efficient ways to cook for almost any outdoor gathering. From social functions to campouts or even dinner on the back patio, Camp Chef can do it all.

In 1990, Camp Chef was established on the idea that there just had to be a better way to cook outdoors. The founder and president of the company, Ty Measom, recognized many campers and sportsman had an interest in outdoor cooking but were struggling with what cooking equipment was available to them. That is when he designed a stove that would meet the needs of the avid outdoorsman.

That simple stove design later became the Pro 60 and evolved to include the most versatile cooking system on the market by incorporating accessories to simplify and diversify any outdoor menu. BBQ boxes, flattop griddles, and pizza ovens now give users the ability to grill, griddle, bake, boil, brew fry, stream, and even cook Dutch oven - all on a single Camp Chef stove.

After being in the campsite for nearly 10 years, Camp Chef began producing quality cast iron cookware with its signature True-Seasoned Finish. Another 10 years later Camp Chef addressed the demand for a versatile outdoor cooking system at home. Today there are several stoves, smokers, fire pits and more, designed specifically with the home and patio in mind. However, the roots of the company are in the great outdoors, continuing to give people the opportunity to experience nature without sacrificing a hearty meal.

Camp Chef is located in the heart of Cache Valley, Utah, surrounded by the beautiful Bear River Mountain Range, a perfect site for product testing. User questions & answers

Question: Have the 2 burner stove and deciding on griddle to cover 1 or 2 of the burners. With 2 burner griddle, will a coffee percolator set on it boil
Answer: It will, just not as quickly as it would without the griddle. The griddle is designed to evenly distribute the heat across the entire length of the griddle. That being said, it can easily get hot enough to boil a coffer percolator that is sitting on top of the griddle.
Question: will this fit the 3 burner tohoe model? thanks
Answer: No. The models that will fit the Camp Chef 3 burner Tahoe stove are SG90 (covers 2 burners), SG100 (covers 3 burners), SG14 (covers 1 burner), CGG16B(covers 1 burner), and CGG24B(covers 2 burners).
Question: Is this stainless steel
Answer: Some here have said it's cast iron, it is most definitely steel. The griddle I bought eight years ago and still use to this day is 100% steel. The originals were made from cast iron a loooong time ago, wish I could still get one.
Question: what is the excat size of the sg 60 griddle
Answer: Exact size? It's in my clamshell trailer parked outside...it completely covers the grill area of the camp stove; there's no open gaps around the perimeter....plus, by design, the edge of the griddle captures the heat and flame of the stove--for years I had another griddle I used that was smaller than the surface area of the stove and heat and flames were always rising making the experience a bit more challenging.

Griddle Care

Most of our professional griddles come with a True-Seasoned Finish, just like all of our cast iron. To keep this finish in tip-top condition, your griddle needs a little TLC every now and then. By following the guide below, you will help keep your griddle clean, prevent rust, and build up the glass-like finish to keep food from sticking.

Temperature Management:

Giving your griddle time to pre-heat properly will ensure you’re getting the best cooking performance possible. Start by setting your heat to Medium or Med-Low for about 5 minutes. This should bring the griddle surface temperature to about 350°-400° F, depending on the weather and environment. Then turn the heat to Med-Low or Low for 2-3 minutes for uniform heat across the entire cooking surface. The steel heats up quickly but cools slowly, so you’ll have plenty of heat to work with even after you turn down the burners. You’re ready to get cooking. Managing the heat on your griddle is important to prevent any possible damage. While the steel is strong and durable, you should only use Low or Medium heat settings. This is especially important if you want to use different heat settings on a large griddle that covers multiple burners. You have the capability to warm a tortilla on one side and cook a fajita mix on the other, but you want to keep both settings on Medium or lower.

Cleaning:

After each use, clean off any food particles while the griddle is still warm. You might want to use a metal spatula or chain mail scrubber to remove stubborn bits. Then wash with hot water, mild dish soap (never use abrasive detergent), or our Cast Iron Cleaner. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Never scour or use a dishwasher, as this could chip the nice, seasoned finish you’re going for.

Seasoning:

Once your griddle is clean, slowly warm it up again on your stove. Apply a thin layer of Cast Iron Conditioner or cooking oil. We recommend Cast Iron Conditioner because it has a palm oil base, which boasts a longer shelf life than any other natural oil. Be sure that the entire surface, including all corners, have been coated thoroughly. This will ensure that all surfaces of your cookware will be properly seasoned. This finish helps protect the steel or cast iron from rust and contributes to a nonstick cooking surface. Let your griddle cool, then wipe off excess conditioner or oil with a clean cloth.

Storage:

After your griddle is clean, dry, and seasoned, you will need to store it in a dry, clean area. You can use one of our carry bags, specifically designed to hold your professional griddle. If you store it in one of these bags long-term, leave the zipper open 2-4 inches so the metal doesn’t 'sweat.' This will prevent rusting.

Pro Tips:

Be sure that your griddle is level before cooking, so that any juices or grease will drain properly. To test your griddle’s angle, pour a cup of water on the corner farthest from the grease drain and see where it flows.

Use our grease cup accessory for an easy clean-up.

If you need to adjust the heat on your griddle, do so a little at a time. The metal will heat quickly and cool slowly.

Lightly oil the griddle before each use while it’s heating up. You can use Camp Chef Conditioner or cooking oil.

The steel will continue to antique and darken with each use—it’s okay for it to accumulate a patina.

Rusty, metallic tastes or discolored foods are signs of inadequate seasoning or may result from cooking heavily acidic foods. If this occurs, wash the griddle thoroughly and re-season.

User questions & answers

Question: cast iron reversible griddle is this exactly 24" or is it a little under i need closer to 23"x 15" want to use on top and inside oven
Answer: It would be better if you mentioned the weight of your hibachi. In any case this table is structurally well designed. Most of the wight of your grill will be positioned over the vertical legs. It is well braced. The only issue you might run into is front to back stability if you put it on an uneven surface. This is a nice table that folds out of the way pretty easily.
Question: How thick is this cast iron grill
Answer: Better to place tank on bottom rack. I removed that rack and sat it on the ground surface.
Question: what are the dimintions of the bayou classic
Answer: The cover Cuisinart offers for this grill/stand fits perfectly; however, it's very low quality. If you use it outside, in a few months the black color will turn to white-grey and soon thereafter holes will appear. Its life span is approx. a year and then you can trash it. I'm on my second one at this time because I can't find any other cover that properly fits this combo (S. Florida).
Question: Does this griddle work with the camp chef explorer 2 burner stove (#ex60lw
Answer: I have the same model Cuisinart. This stand was recommended by their outsourced customer service company. The top is 16 x 24 and is metal (steel I think). My grill just fits on it with the legs extended. It's not a solid surface top but "slats" of steel. I put a cookie sheet wrapped in aluminum foil under the grill as an additional precaution for grease catching. The side tables fold up, they are plastic. My only "complaint" is that the bottom "shelf" is pretty flimsy for supporting a 5-gal propane tank. The table does fold down nicely and has a carrying handle as well as Velcro straps to keep it from unfolding when you carry it.
