The rim on the New Star is included in the measurement. There are no protruding handles, etc. You should be ok w 12.5 inch clearance, although you could always bend it up a little on the edge if you need a 1/4 inch or so extra clearance. I prefer it for re-heating, not baking from scratch. For what it's worth, I try to use a pan or a mat under the screen because oil, cheese, or tomato sauce can drip through the grid when you're reheating pizza etc . |

| Answer: | Used this pan under the broiler to get nice spotting on pizza crust with temp ~520F and the sides started to curl considerably, so would not recommend above 500. |

| Answer: | No it has Teflon type coating. Just remember to cut the pizza on a board. It will scratch the coating if you do not use a board. It is easier to cut a pizza on a fat surface anyway. |

While Backcountry Iron compares themselves with Lodge Cast Iron (proudly made in the United States since 1896), with Backcountry Iron keeping their country of origin a secret led us to doubt their integrity and quality. |
