Answer: | The pan has sloping sides so it's a little indefinite. On the generous side, I'd say about 10 inches. On the plus side, this pan will easily hold 4 chicken breast halves or 6 thighs. The neat thing is that you can make a nice reduction sauce, using this same pan. Once you've sauteed the chicken and set it aside, you can add a little cooking wine, salt, pepper and your favorite herbs to make the reduction. The All-Clad Stainless Steel 13 inch Flat Whisk (T-134) does a great job. |

Answer: | First off, This is the pan I use the very most out of all my cookware. It's volume makes it ideal for one skillet family-sized meals. A sauce pan will typically have sides that are straight up and down and higher; allowing for less evaporation. The wide base of this pan can actually function as a skillet, and I have used it for this. Your finished product will just retain a bit more moisture. Truly, If I had to have just one pan, this would be it. I use it nearly everyday; while I use my saucepan less frequently. I always pre-heat on medium low for a minute or two before adding butter or olive oil, and it is a fantastic pan. |

Answer: | The bottom has concentric rings alternating high and low. So it is better for a gas stove/fire. It heats on a glass stove top, but takes a while because the flat part is so small and the high rings don’t touch the heating surface. |

Answer: | My 8 inch pan is exactly 8 3/8 inches across the very top of the pan outside edge to outside edge. This is where the lid would rest. I use the lid from one of my 3qt All-clad pot which the dimension on the lid where it sets inside the fry pan is 7 3/4. The fry pan has a little roll down on the stainless. Answer: | The answer is two inches. My pan is a 12" skillet. You can fit a whole extra piece of chicken in a 12" pan that won't fit in a 10". Frankly, you need both, and I already had a 10" skillet. I would have bought the 14" but my stove probably isn't large enough. |

Answer: | If you are asking whether it is magnetic so you could attach it to something metallic, no it isn't. It has a little stand like an easel which keeps it upright. The cord for the probe is pretty long so I have never had a problem placing on the grill shelf or next to the oven. |

Answer: | The All Clad unit like so any such thermometers do NOT have replacement probes, and the prose are easily destroyed when washed or in too rough of use. I recently searched on Amazon for a replacement probe, found one for about $9 for a Polder thm-362-86, so I purchased a Polder THM-362-86. I look forward to a long relationship with this electronic remote cooking thermometer that has replaceable probes. |

Answer: | Yes, the handles get hot because they are not plastic or rubber coated including the sides of the pans. They cook evenly and are beautiful and so it is a trade off I guess. You just need a towel or pot holder handy before grabbing anything. If this type of pan is something you really want, you will get used to using them. I have no regrets with my purchase. |

The straight sided saute pans have taller sides and keeps steam where you need it, it the pan . . .the lid enhances that feature. |

Answer: | Let me rephrase your question. Would an average, every day driver appreciate a Mercedes Benz, Lexus or even a Cadillac over a Camry? All are good and competent machines but would a driver notice the difference? I think yes. So with cookware the weight, finish and performance is noticeably different, better. I use ceramic coated cast iron and All-Clad SS Copper Core and I enjoy cooking and cleaning up when I am done. They are also very easy on the eye. |
