13 best bialetti coffee makers
Bialetti coffee makers are renowned for their iconic stovetop espresso Moka pots, which are a popular choice for brewing coffee, especially in Italian households. These coffee makers fall within the categories of Stovetop Espresso Moka Pots, Coffee Tea Espresso, Kitchen Dining, and Home Kitchen.
Here's what you need to know about Bialetti coffee makers:
Stovetop Espresso Brewing: Bialetti is best known for its stovetop Moka pots, which are designed to brew espresso-like coffee on the stovetop. These pots consist of three main parts: a bottom chamber for water, a middle filter basket for coffee grounds, and an upper chamber for collecting the brewed coffee.
Iconic Design: Bialetti Moka pots have an iconic and distinctive design, featuring an octagonal shape with an aluminum construction. The design has remained relatively unchanged for decades and is instantly recognizable.
Available Sizes: Bialetti Moka pots come in various sizes, ranging from single-cup to multiple-cup options, allowing users to brew the desired amount of coffee based on their needs.
Ease of Use: Using a Bialetti Moka pot is relatively simple. You fill the bottom chamber with water, add finely ground coffee to the filter basket, assemble the pot, and place it on a stovetop burner. As the water heats, it creates pressure, forcing hot water through the coffee grounds and into the upper chamber.
Flavor and Brewing: Bialetti Moka pots produce a strong and rich coffee that is similar in taste and strength to espresso. The flavor profile can vary depending on the type of coffee beans and grind size used.
Maintenance: Bialetti coffee makers are relatively easy to clean. After each use, it's essential to disassemble the pot, wash the components with warm water (without using soap), and allow them to air dry to prevent any residual coffee flavors from affecting future brews.
Durability: Bialetti coffee makers are known for their durability and longevity. With proper care, they can last for many years, making them a cost-effective choice for coffee enthusiasts.
Versatility: While primarily used for brewing coffee, some people also use Moka pots to make other hot beverages like tea or hot chocolate.
Bialetti is a respected and trusted brand in the world of coffee makers, and their Moka pots are beloved by coffee aficionados for their simplicity and ability to brew a rich and flavorful cup of coffee with a unique Italian flair.

User questions & answers
Question: | How many ounces of coffee does the 3 cup make |
Answer: | There are too many elements involve to keep your espresso staying hot. Assuming you use boiling water, you heated up your provided espresso cup, you sip your espresso right next to camp fire, there is no cold winds blowing at your face, and you drink it quickly - yes it stay warm for the time you have it. |
Question: | Where is it made? Is it made in Italy |
Answer: | Yes, you can foam with this device, it's very simple. |
Question: | Is there any cause for concern when buying a color pot? I wonder about the color fading or chipping off over time |
Answer: | Adding a few "pin holes" at the bottom of the pod with a pin pusher will ensure that the unit will work when the capsule is compressed against the bottom. I have had many capsules not work (but some do) without pre-making the holes in the bottom of the capsule before using. |
Question: | Can you use it on a glass top stove |
Answer: | Yes, it's the only way I've used the Moocoo. Very simple but be sure to use a very fine grind, preferably with a burr grinder. My problem with the Moocoo is that even with preheating all the parts, the coffee coffee comes out warm at best. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have had my moka pot for months now. It shows signs of rust on the inside. Is this still ok to use |
Answer: | There is only two internal parts: aluminum cone to hold coffee and a gasket. I have the 3-cup, smaller version. |
Question: | is this made of stainless steel |
Answer: | Filling the 6-cup to just below the valve (as recommended) and measuring, it came to 300ml or about 9 ounces. If you want "americano"-strength coffee, put two rounded tablespoons (15g) of illy medium roast (red band) espresso grind coffee (or lavazza or your favorite) in the basket. If you want 4 "shots" of espresso-strength, fill the basket to the top and maybe use the dark roast (black band). If you don't want to make "too much" coffee (is there such a thing?), simply save the leftover espresso-strength coffee in your refrigerator in a glass container and it will taste fine the next day -- just add hot water (about 4oz to 2oz of espressso)! This is what I do and it saves time in the morning =) |
Question: | Does it make espresso in the same way as starbucks in terms of taste |
Answer: | Yes, every household in Italy uses this type of coffee maker on a gas stovetop (nobody uses an electric stove in italy). If you dont have small burner, pull it off to the side of a larger burner with handle away from flame. |
Question: | Does '3 cup' refer to 3 standard size espresso cups or 24 fluid ounces |
Answer: | The cups are actually espresso cups and they are smaller than regular cups (imperial). They are around 50ml (1.7oz). The 3 cups one is just right for one person, but small for two. You can always make it twice though. But for a more regular making for 2 people, I would get the 6 cup one. I have the 3 cup one, and I'm about to buy the 6 cup. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it take a round paper filter |
Answer: | Its made of aluminum. |
Question: | Is this all stainless on the interior? Does any water go through a plastic area |
Answer: | 2015 update - if you use Starbuck beans, you can more closely recreate the taste of Starbuck's.A conditional yes, please let me explain why. I should also mention that for years I was a Starbuck's two doppio's a day fanatic. I did find, using Starbuck's beans bought in the smallest quantities for freshness gave me great results in the moka pot. How close you find your satisfaction with the moka pot is really unknown until you work with one and evaluate the results for yourself. That being said, I will share two years of experimentation with the Moka pot, in some details, hopefully without overwhelming you. Keep in mind, if you simply want to put coffee and water in the machine, there is no need to read further. The moka pot is pretty consistent in making a good strong coffee. There are some other variables you can work with, depending on your interest, and motivation. I love espresso and am highly motivated to capturing that elusive finest cup. There are some constants:1. Since the water is a constant (you fill GOOD water to the bottom of the valve), and 2. You fill the basket with ground coffee (and do NOT tamp it down) 3. You heat the pot on very low heat and remove it when the water sound stops and no not let the pot boil. Then there is only one other variable, the grind of the coffee.1. There is only so much ground coffee the basket can hold, so the taste of the coffee will change depending on how fine or coarse the beans are ground. 2. If you are using pre-ground Starbuck's coffee, that would seem like you have it made right? Well, no. Keep in mind Starbuck's uses a big machine and this is a little pot for your home. What I and others have found, is grinding your own fresh beans will maximize the likelihood you are getting the best results. I have moved over to the dark side and got a burr grinder as a gift. Having worked with it for two years, I can attest to the fact I can work with a fine or coarse grind to get great and strong coffee from the Moka pot. Just remember to remove the pot from the heat when you hear the water stops. Leaving it on longer will not make the coffee stronger, it will boil it and most likely make in unpalatable. My preference is for the aluminum pot vs stainless steel and I do NOT wash the pot with any soap. A wipe down with a moist paper towel and leaving it air dry has given me great results after the initial one or two first pots I needed to break in the pot in.Whew on the details here but I am trying to give you an honest explanation of what you can do to get more consistent results for yourself. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is it bpa free? do you make a coffee maker that is all stainless steel |
Answer: | It means 3 espresso shots. The upper chamber of the pot, which holds the coffee, has a capacity of 3/4 of a measuring cup, or 6 ounces. |

Question: | Will this espresso maker work on an induction stove |
Answer: | Bialetti recommends washing all of the parts in warm water before using the coffeemaker for the first time. Additional instructions will be in your product manual or here: https://www.bialetti.co.nz/blogs/making-great-coffee/tips-and-care |
Question: | what's difference between this and and a french press |
Answer: | Not sure but I had that happen and it just kept going and spit all over the place.Maybe the heat was too high?I've turned the flame down and it hasn't happened to me since. |
Question: | The Bialetti is my daily maker, and recently the basket has become more difficult to remove for cleaning .. used to just come out with a tap...advice |
Answer: | According to Bialetti: "All Bialetti stovetop espresso makers are suitable for use on gas, electric, and ceramic hobs." |
Question: | What is the best way to make espresso with this Bialetti Stovetop Espresso Maker |
Answer: | The old Brikka uses a weighted valve on the output stem. The newer one does away with that and uses flow restriction to create the crema. It’s simpler and less fiddly. |

Answer: | It comes with a washable metal filter, no need for paper filters. If you must then yes the place where you put the coffee is round. |
Question: | Does this make regular coffee . Not espresso |
Answer: | Hello, Thanks for reaching out. No, the interior is plastic. Have a nice day. The Bialetti Team. |
Question: | Is this coffee maker made in italy |
Answer: | Hello, Thanks for reaching out. All direct contact food parts are BPA free. No, we don't make coffee maker that all in stainless steel. Have a wonderful day. The Bialetti team. |
Question: | Where is it made? The whole thing is stainless steel |
Answer: | The pot is aluminum, the hazy finish is probably aluminum oxide aka corundum aka sapphire. Its why you want that in all your aluminum cookware because that is what stops the aluminum from leeching out into your food. Its the reason why people always recommend you boil water in a new aluminum pot to get this to form (ie seasoning.) Don't use vinegar or lime-away to remove this beneficial layer! |

- 4 cup coffee maker (170 ml of coffee)
User questions & answers
Question: | I received the new Brikka today. There appears to be a two of three spots of something a bit sticky on the inside of the top. What is this |
Answer: | Yes, it’s the 18 cup model. Be careful with it don’t leave it on the fire much longer than than you have to. I melted the bottom off mine, what a mess. Cup size is a euro espresso size not coffee cup. Side note: makes the best coffee ever!!! Everyone says I make the best coffee!!!! |
Question: | Why does my 2-cup new Brikka sputter out of control even I remove it from heat when the first drop of coffee dispensed |
Answer: | https://www.bialetti.us/coffee/replacement-parts-c-1_73.html |
Question: | Will this also work on an electric stovetop |
Answer: | The following item should fit this coffee maker: https://www.amazon.com/Packing-gaskets-filter-alluminium-coffeepots/dp/B003BVV9SM/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1531921360&sr=8-8&keywords=bialetti+4+cup+gasket |
Question: | what is the difference between the Brikka and the New Brikka |
Answer: | Well, it percolates like an electric coffee maker, but you can use it on any stove top, gas or electric, you don't plug it in. Youjust fill the bottom portion with cold water & put fine coffee grounds in the top section & heat on medium until you hear it start to gurgle. Best to google how to make coffee in the Bialetti. That's what I did. Good Luck. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I make less than 6 cups |
Answer: | I returned mine because it was too small to activate any of the burners on my inductions stove. It would only work with an induction disk. In addition, the Stainless Steel is low quality and rusts. Therefore, I ended up getting the traditional aluminum Moka Express instead and use it daily with an induction disk. The aluminum one works great, does not rust and is cheaper! Triple win! |
Question: | What exact size and model number replacement gasket fits this moka pot? I would like to order several when I order this moka pot. Thank you |
Answer: | It sounds like not enough heat to get the water boiling, or there is a blockage, so the water/steam can't get through to the top. I always put mine on fairly high heat - making sure to keep the handle away from heat. CHECK THE FOLLOWING: 1) make sure that the threads of the top are not clogged by grains of ground coffee. 2) make sure that your filter (between top and bottom) isn't clogged 3) make sure that the top and bottom are tightly sealed - no ground coffee on the rubber gasket. There should be a LITTLE bit of water left in the bottom - if the bottom is completely dry, you let it boil too long. |
Question: | cuanto pesa este articulo |
Answer: | if it's not defective and you think you tighten it tight enough, there are a couple of things that can make it shoot out steam from the center seam. There might be some coffee ground spilled on the top edge of the little strainer or on the outer rim of the reservoir preventing a tight grip. You might be filling the reservoir too much with water and it makes it overflow when boiling. Or this happened to me when I first got mine, the little Calvin the outside of the reservoir might be slightly pushed in, in which case try to brew clear water for a couple of times at high heat to help it pop out. In fact try the clear water anyway to see how the pot behaves, which is a good way to maintain your pot free of coffee residue in the funnel. Hope this help. |
Question: | is it dual voltage |
Answer: | The one I got says "made in china" |

Product description
For those preferring a smoother coffee taste, the Bialetti 6-Cup Venus combines beauty and elegance in a tastefully designed stovetop espresso maker. Bialetti's legacy of quality and reliability lives on in this coffee maker crafted in high-quality 18/10 stainless steel (including the inner parts such as funnel & filter plate) with ergonomic, heat-resistant handle and lid. Produces 6 cups of rich, authentic Italian espresso in just 4-5 minutes. Note that max boiler capacity is slightly greater than the final output. Some water will be left in the boiler after brewing. The Venus is compatible with all stovetops, including induction cooktops. Stainless steel espresso pots are not dishwasher safe, hand wash only. Never use other contents besides coffee like teas, cacao powder, instant coffee or fine ground coffee as it will clog the filter plate. To use; fill the lower chamber with cold water just below the valve. Insert the funnel and fill it with ground espresso (do not tamp). Remove any coffee grounds on the edge of the funnel. Tightly screw the upper part of the pot on the base. Avoid using the handle for leverage. Select burner size to fit the bottom of pot. For gas stovetop, make sure the flame is not larger than bottom of pot. The flame should not come around the sides of the pot. Place pot on the stovetop until the water boils and coffee begins to come out of the center post. There will be a gurgling sound during this process. When the top of the pot is full of coffee, remove from stove. Hazel brown foam appears just seconds before the coffee is completely done. Before pouring coffee, stir it in the upper chamber with a small spoon to equalize all the different coffee layers for optimum flavor. Bialetti is the world's most recognized and beloved Italian coffee company. Bialetti coffee makers have become iconic and has allowed millions of consumers to enjoy great Italian coffee that once was only available in cafes and restaurants. Bialetti's passion remains in making superb coffee simple.
