User questions & answers

Question: What are the two black stripes made of and what is the main difference between this model and the all stainless costing roughly $100 +/ more
Answer: The Replacement Gaskets for Alessi 9095/1 La Cupola Espresso Maker 1cup model (2.5Oz capacity - 7" tall) can be purchased here: https://www.amazon.com/Alessi-Rubber-Washer-Gasket-Espresso/dp/B0058ULIYE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535644173&sr=8-1&keywords=alessi+200672
Question: Does anyone know where to purchase gaskets for the 10-cup? Thank you so much
Answer: I have an electric stove, just fine. Works on gas stove too. It is a beautiful design makes a great cup of espresso, But WARNING...never ever put it in the dishwasher! Wash by hand, air dry, be sure it is completely dry before reassembling to store.
Question: Are you personally happy with the 10-cup size, or wish for the smaller 10-cup? It would be for 1, 2 or 3 people while camping. I know it's personal
Answer: I'm not sure? But if you can boil a pan of water on the stove top, the Alessi will make a great cup of espresso. And it is a lovely piece of art. Don't stick it in the cupboard. Show it off. It will get attention from visitors.
Question: Can you make less that 10cups for the 10cup version, maybe 5cups @ 1.5ounce cup each = 7.5 ounces with some consistancy in taste
Answer: There is no black Alessi cupola pot. The 'black' refers to handle and top knob. . I prefer this pot to the Moka pot. I've had then all in both stainless and aluminum. They're both fine , quite substantial and make better coffee . Hope this helps. Didn't understand the 'mug' reference.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the handle made of
Answer: I think you may be mistaken or misled, as far as Alessi 9090's go, there is no model with 2 black stripes. Perhaps it's the lighting in the photo? The difference between most of the ones for sale on Amazon tends to be the size. All of the Alessi 9090's are solid stainless and great build quality. The prices have varied wildly over the years between Alessi's MSRP and much less than that, so there could be no honest difference between one and another at $100 more.
Question: I just got mine (new?) from amazon, and it leaks steam from the joint. it also drips from the release valve when i pour. is this normal
Answer: I bought mine here on amazon in August 2020 however I see now it’s out of stock. I hope this helps. Alessi 29706 Spare Part Gasket - Rubber Washer for ART. 9090/M
Question: Is this still made in Italy
Answer: I am both, and use the 6 cup more often when me and my partner just have coffee after lunch or dinner. The 6 cup is just right for 2 small (and I mean SMALL) cups. The 10-cup ends up having left over coffee. So, it just depends if you want it for a small amount following a meal or for more than 2 small cups/more than 2 people. It’s a great idea to have both, but they are quite costly...
Question: How do you dry the water that accumulates in the crevice inside the coffeemaker's base so it does not rust
Answer: yes......depending on the amount of water and the amount of coffee

It is therefore not a banal coffee pot but a real "steam machine" as the author also states. Made of stainless steel 18/10, 9090 is original not only for its special truncated cone shape but also for some functional innovations such as the enlarged base that allows to maximize heat, the anti-drip spout and the lever lock that allow one to open the coffee pot with a simple gesture of the hand.

Alessi MDL02/3 B"Pulcina" Stove Top Espresso 3 Cup Coffee Maker in Aluminum Casting Handle And Knob in Pa, Black

Alessi

Based on 182 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The stove top espresso coffee maker "Pulcina", designed by Michele de Lucchi is the product of intense research into the optimization of the shape of the coffee pot in order to improve and enhance the organoleptic properties of coffee. Thanks to the internal shape of its special heater, "Pulcina" automatically stops filtering the coffee at the right moment. This interruption helps to eliminate the eruption phase, the final filtering stage that generates a burnt and bitter aftertaste, ensuring that only the finest qualities of the coffee are preserved and enhancing its full-bodied and rounded aroma. The spout is quite pronounced. Its typical 'V' shape, reminiscent of a baby chick's beak, is specially designed to perfectly cut drops when pouring. Practical and functional, making coffee with the "Pulcina" is just like making it with a traditional coffee pot.

  • Designer: Michele De Lucchi
  • In PA, aluminum casting
  • Hand wash suggested
  • Doesn't work on induction stove tops
  • Dimensions: 8″ x 31/2″

User questions & answers

Question: Is delivery safe
Answer: the handle is resin fill in a steel frame. If you have a large burner it will heat up hot enough to brand you. Looks good though.
Question: Is it possible to order replacement parts? I would like the metal imsert that holds the grounds
Answer: Those experiencing these leaks (which I have not)--are you filling the water in the base to just below the bottom edge of the brass valve inside, as per the instruction booklet? If you cover the pressure release valve in any way with water, it will leak.
Question: Why should i buy this instead of a bialetti moka pot? what is the difference
Answer: Yes. This coffee pot is still made in Italy. I bought the small version of this in Milan 12 years ago.
Question: Is this just for espresso or also regular coffee
Answer: I've had my unit for about 38 years now and have never had a rust problem. To clean it I disassemble the unit and wash it in the dishwasher and put it in the dish drainer to dry. About once a month I take the unit apart and clean the main tube and the tube in the basket with a small wire brush--an essential tool for cleaning the 9090. Every two months or so I run white vinegar through the assembled unit (without coffee grounds in it) until it all bubbles out the top and then run it 2 or 3 times with plain water to get the vinegar smell out. I bang the basket on something hard to get accumulated coffee grounds out of it--pretty much daily. Occasionally I clean the accessible surfaces inside with a scrubber and Ajax or some such. I change the gasket when it gets torn. Hope this is helpful. I've had the bottom rewelded once because of leakage through the seam. This is an extremely durable coffee maker--no moving parts.

The company

Founded in 1921 as a “Workshop for the processing of brass and nickel silver sheet metal, with foundry”, Alessi has always stood out for the high quality of its products.

In almost a century of history, the company has gradually evolved to become one of the leading “Factories of Italian design”, capable of applying its expertise and excellence in design management to many different product types.

Open to change and international development, Alessi at the same time has a strong bond with the traditions and cultural background of its area and continues to be synonymous with handcrafted objects produced with the help of machines.

Alessigraphy: the geography of Alessi production

Since the Company's foundation in 1921 the majority of Alessi products have been manufactured through the cold working of metals, a tradition that is kept alive today by the skilled workers at the Crusinallo plant in Omegna.

Over time, Alessi also began to work with many other materials, such as porcelain, glass, wood, and plastic... A specific production method was developed for each one. Even when production takes place outside the Crusinallo plant, Alessi’s guidelines guarantee the company’s original production quality standards, continuing to reconcile industrial technological complexity with an artisanal eye for detail.

The objects produced from the different materials are manufactured in various production plants across the world. They remain original Alessi objects in that they are conceived with the same design excellence and produced with the same attention to quality that sets the company’s products apart.
