Product Safeguards

When used properly, and as instructed, your Cafe Brew product will serve you well in your kitchen endeavors. However, misuse of the Kettle (“product”) can cause the glass to break or plastic components to melt and result in personal injury from cuts, scalding or hot/melted plastic. Partial instructions are offered below, however please refer to the manufacturer's website for complete instructions.

• Product is strictly intended for boiling water as instructed. All other uses are strictly prohibited.
• For adult use only; close supervision is necessary when used near children. Never leave the product unattended while in use.
• Use product on interior household stove top ranges only. Not for commercial use or induction stove tops. Do not use product on or in the following devices: oven appliance, microwave oven, fire pit, barbeque grill or fireplace grill.
• Do not subject product to impact as it may weaken glass and cause it to break unexpectedly during use.
• The Trivet included with your Kettle must always be placed on exposed Electric Range coils between the coils and Kettle glass; Trivet is not necessary for use on Gas or Glass Ranges.
• Maximum capacity is 48 fluid ounces. Do not overfill product with water which can cause boil over.
• Do not heat or boil product if water level is below the “MIN.” line marking on glass.
• Immediately remove product from heat source once water has reached a boil. Do not boil product dry or heat when empty, as this can damage the glass or cause the plastic components to melt. Discontinue use of product if boiled dry or heated empty.
• When inserting Lid into glass, align Lid handle over Kettle handle.
• Handle may become hot during use. Use of oven mitts is recommended.
• Failure to comply with these instructions may 1) result in damage to the glass that isn't clearly visible, resulting in breakage during use and 2) cause the plastic components to melt.
• If during heating/use you disregarded these instructions, or suspect the glass is damaged or plastic components may have melted 1) Do not touch or move product 2) immediately turn off heat source 3) instruct any persons who may come into contact with product not to touch or move product 4) allow product to cool for two hours 5) after two hours, using an oven mitt, carefully remove product and discard.

General Product Use, Cleaning & Care

GENERAL PRODUCT USE (in accordance with Safeguards)

FOR GAS RANGES: use on medium size burner (max. 3.5" dia. burner cap) on medium heat setting; consult your range instructions for heat settings. Do not allow flame to extend beyond the bottom surface of the glass. Reduce from medium to low heat setting if flame extends beyond bottom surface of the glass.

FOR ELECTRIC RANGES: use on small size burner (max. 5.6" dia.) on medium heat setting; consult your range instructions for heat settings. Do not place product on burner that is larger than the width of the glass.

1. Place Trivet on Electric Range coils as applicable (not needed for gas or glass stove tops).

2. Add water to the Kettle, noting required minimum and maximum water levels.

3. Snap Lid securely into place and align Lid handle over top of Kettle handle.

4. Place Kettle on stove top to boil. Once water has boiled, immediately remove Kettle from heat source.

5. Carefully remove Lid before pouring.

CLEANING & PRODUCT CARE

• Do not use abrasive pads, brushes, cleaners or any metal products on or inside of glass Kettle.
• Do not scrub any scale buildup as it may scratch the glass and result in breakage. Use a liquid descaler as directed by descaler product, but do not scrub the glass.
• Use only sponge, plastic or nylon wash pads with soapy water when washing by hand.
• Dishwasher top rack safe. Avoid Kettle contact with other items in dishwasher.

Answer:	Hopefully, this might help you. You are correct, cross bar is part of the frame that the top is attached to. I have no idea what the c-clamp you are referring to looks like. What I can tell you is that the cross bar is located 2.5" from the edge of the top. I presume the manufacturer placed the cross bar away from the edge so clamps could be mounted but not sure if the clamp you are referring to would fit on the 2.5"? As a side note, I really like my desk. Has tons of room on the top and is very sturdy! Good luck!

Manufacturers often put it in fine-print to empty kettles after each use but because most people won’t read instructions they will never know :) Below are things that could happen, BUT may never happen - 1.  Stainless Steel is composed of many metals such as iron, carbon, chromium, Nickel. When water comes in contact with these metals some oxidization may occur which may for some people change the taste of water. 2. Overstayed water results in limescale buildup which maybe “mistaken” for Rust. Emptying Kettle after each use will protect and increase the durability of the appliance. Answer:	According to the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service, at sea level, water boils at 212 °F. With each 500-feet increase in elevation, the boiling point of water is lowered by just under 1 °F. At 2,000 feet above sea level the boiling temperature of water is 208 °F instead of 212 °F. At 7,500 feet water boils at about 198 °F. Because water boils at a lower temperature at higher elevations, foods that are prepared by boiling or simmering will cook at a lower temperature, and it will take longer to cook. To compensate for the lower boiling point of water, the cooking time must be increased. Turning up the heat will not help cook food faster. No matter how high the cooking temperature, water cannot exceed its own boiling point – unless using a pressure cooker. Even if the heat is turned up, the water will simply boil away faster and whatever is being cooked will dry out faster.

Answer:	This tea pot is junk. The handle gets very hot. The whistle is connect with plastic to the metal hinge and it melted and fell off within months. It's like with something that wears off over time which means it's in the water when you drink it. I've seen some that say it doesn't whistle. Mine was loud, sometimes. That's the only thing I looked about it until the whistle fell off.

Auto-shut off works, and as someone pointed out, if you don't close the lid all the way, the auto-shut will not work. But it shuts off as soon as it hits a hard boil. Excellent product.

Answer:	The Hamilton Beach warranty is "This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase." Of course, a warranty is in placed only to limit or manage the risk of the manufacturer. The only thing that matters to me, the purchaser, is whether or not I got value for the dollar spent. One and a half years of service before failure protects the manufacturer, but I did not get the value I expected or the value that other competitive products offered.

Answer:	The glass can, but not the bottom of the base. I clean it after each use with a dish brush inside and out, and run water over just the glass, top, and handle to rinse, then dry outside with a towel. Just don't get water in the base. And be careful around hard surfaces -- the spout is delicate, and if you tap it against a counter or sink it will break.

Answer:	It "full" boils for 15 to 20 seconds at least. No, it does not beep, but if your hearing is good, you can hear it click off from about 30' The click is not annoying and it only clicks once. I bought it after much research looking for a bps free and not made in china product and was excited to get this however when we received it- upon opening the box there is a message on the box that says the product has been deemed unsafe by California proposition 65. Upon further research I found that proposition 65 'Proposition 65 regulates substances officially listed by California as causing cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm in two ways'. So FORGET BUYING THIS- god knows what is in the plastic or anything!!! An very disappointed and back to hunting again. Ugh

Answer:	The silicon ring at the base of this and all similar electric glass/steel electric kettles is absolutely required from an engineering standpoint. Glass and steel have very different coefficients of expansion. Without the silicon ring at the base of the kettle to accommodate the differences in glass and steel expansion, the kettle would leak.

Answer:	Folks, get over your angst about buying Chinese made products. The simple truth is that all tea kettles, except, stove top, are made in China. Perhaps one day we will see production come back but do not fault the company for moving production to China.
