Answer:	Hopefully, this might help you. You are correct, cross bar is part of the frame that the top is attached to. I have no idea what the c-clamp you are referring to looks like. What I can tell you is that the cross bar is located 2.5" from the edge of the top. I presume the manufacturer placed the cross bar away from the edge so clamps could be mounted but not sure if the clamp you are referring to would fit on the 2.5"? As a side note, I really like my desk. Has tons of room on the top and is very sturdy! Good luck!

If manufacturer has not changed the design of the plastic mold to the metal base and your candelabra socket is slightly deeper than normal, the base will be screwed from the bulb when you tighten down.
