10 best garden outdoor coffee percolators
Garden outdoor coffee percolators are specialized coffee-making devices designed for outdoor use, particularly in gardens, campsites, or picnics. They operate on the principle of percolation, where water is continuously cycled through coffee grounds until the desired strength is achieved. These percolators are specifically crafted to withstand outdoor conditions, making them durable and suitable for various environments.
Key features of garden outdoor coffee percolators may include:
Sturdy Construction: They are typically made from durable materials like stainless steel or aluminum, ensuring they can endure outdoor activities without getting damaged easily.
Heat Source: Outdoor percolators can be used on open flames, camp stoves, or portable grills, providing flexibility in choosing a heat source. Some models are even compatible with induction cooktops.
Capacity: They come in various sizes, ranging from single-serving options to larger percolators capable of brewing multiple cups of coffee at once. The choice depends on the number of people you intend to serve.
Easy to Clean: Most outdoor percolators are designed with easy disassembly in mind, allowing for thorough cleaning, which is essential for maintaining the quality of coffee flavor.
Percolation Process: Water is heated in the lower chamber of the percolator. As the water heats up, it is forced up a tube and over a perforated basket containing coffee grounds. The hot water then drips over the grounds, extracting flavor and strength. The brewed coffee then trickles back down into the water, and the process continues until the desired strength is achieved.
Portability: Many outdoor coffee percolators come with handles and compact designs, making them easy to carry and transport, ideal for camping or outdoor events.
Filters: Some percolators use reusable metal filters, while others use disposable paper filters. The choice of filter can affect the taste of the coffee and the ease of cleanup.
Temperature Control: Higher-end outdoor percolators might feature temperature control mechanisms, allowing users to adjust the brewing temperature for a customized coffee experience.
When using a garden outdoor coffee percolator, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for brewing times and coffee-to-water ratios to achieve the best results. With proper care and maintenance, these percolators can provide excellent coffee outdoors, allowing coffee enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite beverage even in the midst of nature.

User questions & answers
Question: | Got the percolator and replacement glass top but have to re-learn exactly how much coffee to use for this perfect percolator |
Answer: | 1 max loaded teaspoon per cup + 1 teaspoon for the pot. Now you have to define the volume of your "cup.". Some coffee lots state 6 oz is a " cup. ". This is dinky. My volume "cup" is a good size mug, about 10-12 oz.I I also wad up a piece of aluminum foil and jam it into the pouring spout ( I have an 8 and 12 cup stove top percolator: Farberware Yosemite). I use enough aluminum foil to have a "handle" I can grab to remove before pouring. What is the purpose for my aluminum foil spout plug? It greatly reduces vapor loss during percolating. You may START with 3-4 mugs of water, but if you forget about the coffee pot, you will quickly boil off a mug of water and change the flavor/strength. Set a simple timer for 6-8 minutes of percolation time, or about 16-18 total minutes from the time you apply heat. For coffee? I like Maxwell House Columbian. Tried many other brands, and "high end" designer / coffee snob beans. I keep coming back to Maxwell House Columbian. I have stopped searching for coffee. |
Question: | I bought this and love it. Can you leave the basket in after brewing? That would sure be easier but the instructions say take it out |
Answer: | We live on our yacht. I brew a full pot about every three days. I replace what is served with hot, boiling water directly into the basket to extend the grounds as I start with a full basket of an extra dark, gourmet blend. I leave the basket in with the grounds as when the brew has cooled and one desires a cup of coffee, we heat in the microwave. Also, if you add a scant amount of salt to the fresh grounds before you brew a pot of coffee, the brew does not turn acidic, an old restaurant trick! I love our percolator! |
Question: | Does it work on induction stove top |
Answer: | I just bought this to replace my electric percolator. I saw that many people had answered this question positively. I checked the Yosemite bottom with a magnet and the magnet did not stick but never-the-less it still worked on my Duxtop Induction cooktop. The manufacturer says the bottom was 18/0 stainless which is suitable for induction which is, I'm sure, why it works. I tested it against my regular glass top electric range top the water boiled about twice as fast on the induction cooktop. My method ended up being to set the induction cooktop to high until the water boils then turn down the power to 2 (500W, 180 degrees F) and let perc for 6-7 mins. Worked like a charm. |
Question: | Is the filter basket and stem made of stainless steel also or aluminum |
Answer: | Do NOT be fooled. You still need to use a Paper coffee filters in this basket. There is a certain type of Unhealthy oil material that comes off of All coffee..Only the coffee filter can catch it.If you notice with this is sold separate, Melitta 628354 Disc Coffeemaker Filters - Pack of 2 (200 Filters total)by Melitta ...Btw Dr. Oz talks about the need for coffee filters all the time even if your coffee pot comes with the mesh, or percolator , for a good reason. |

Product description
Made from luxurious stainless steel. Makes 4 to 12 cups of rich, flavorful coffee automatically; a cup a minute. Signal light tells when coffee is ready to serve. Attractive, traditional styling - ideal for table service. 120 volts, 60 Hz only
One of the most comforting sounds in the world is the bubbling of a coffee percolator at work. And then comes the toasty aroma--it makes for a perfect morning. Percolators have come back to home kitchens, and the Presto 12-cup stainless steel coffee maker is a prime example. Its elegant, hotel-style design brings a touch of luxury to what is for many a daily pleasure.
This coffee maker brews up to twelve cups of coffee at a cup-a-minute rate, which it then keeps at a constant, piping-hot serving temperature. An indicator light in the base announces when the coffee is ready. The inner fixtures--the filter basket and perk tube--are also made of stainless steel, rather than the more common (and less durable) aluminum. The power cord is removable to make storage simple.
Before cleaning the coffee maker, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Wash the coffee maker with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the gloss of the stainless steel, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The perk spout and filter basket can be cleaned with a brush or pipe cleaner. If necessary, coffee stain remover can be used periodically on the interior surface. The coffee maker measures 10 by 5 by 13 inches (including handle, lid, and spout). Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A simple instruction sheet is enclosed. --Garland Withers

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there plastic where the handle is to shield knuckles from the hot exterior? The picture shown seems like knuckles would get burned from the pot |
Answer: | I measured mine with a thermometer. Right after the "on" light comes on, the brew is a very hot 195 degrees F. |
Question: | I received no instructions on this 8 cup Farberware Percolator. I grind my coffee beans, but no information on grind, Please advise |
Answer: | I found this to be the best method for filtration and eliminating grounds in the pot. 1) Use 12 cup basket filters. 2) Wet the inside bottom of the basket and run water through the percolator stem. 3) Center paper filter over basket stem and punch wet percolator stem down through filter and hole in basket stem. 4) Push filter to bottom of wet basket to adhere. 5) Drizzle water from tap along sides of paper filter/basket and press ruffled paper to flatten against the wet sides of basket. 6) Add desired amount of coffee and start brewing. I've never had a problem with grounds in my coffee since... enjoy! |
Question: | i need a power cord for a fcp 280 coffeepot. where can i find it |
Answer: | Only want STAINLESS STEEL... No plastics, NO ALUMINUM... Does this fit the bill... Any Aluminum or Plastic touching what is ingested - no deal. |
Question: | How is the plastic knob attached to the top? Is it screwed in from under the top or welded? You input and/or pic would be greatly appreciated |
Answer: | Grew up on perked coffee in the 70's before ADC (auto drip coffeemakers). Every store shelf coffee was with a bigger grind of coffee back then for the percolaters. Everything now is switched over to ADC coffee grounds. Too small a grind. Leaves coffee grounds in the perked coffee. Need a bigger grind. Let's e-mail coffee companies to make percolator size grounds again. Maxwell House used to be the standard. Youtube this and fast forward to 48 or 51 seconds and see the actual grind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X13ovEdx-fM or search youtube for "classic TV Commercials - Maxwell house coffee". You can also search and view "maxwell house ADC coffee commercial" that I grew up with when they changed the coffee cans in the store over to the ADC type of coffee that we have today. They had big ADC letters plastered on the coffee cans to advertise the changeover. Slowly the percolator grind faded away :( |

User questions & answers
Question: | When it is done brewing there is a pool of coffee in the filter (about 1-2 cups). It eventually comes down. Anyone else with this problem |
Answer: | never had that problem. However there is a mechanism that shuts off water flow thru the filter if the glass pot is not in place. My guess is this mechanism is falsely reporting the absence of the pot at some pint during the brew. |
Question: | how do you use auto clean |
Answer: | it calls for 6 cups of vinegar and 4 cups of water, you put it in the back, press the auto-clean button and it does a good job. |
Question: | How do you use the Strong 1-4 Cup feature |
Answer: | Mine has a strong feature, and a 2-4 cup feature. I never use the 2-4 cup button. I always make 6 cups. The strong feature I use every morning. I push that first, than I push the on button. |
Question: | It the faceplate on this coffee maker chrome or plastic. It appears to be chrome but I'm not sure if it is or not. Thanks |
Answer: | It's a VERY THIN sheet of metal, not sure if it's chrome, seems more like tin, & it's in place with small screws. There is plastic behind the thin layer. Hope this helps. |

FROM THE INTRODUCTION
THE SIMPLE MAXIM, “The trail provides,” burns bright in the hearts of many backpackers. But what does the trail provide—or what does this trail provide? The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail (PCT) offers a spectacular footpath tracing a route from the Southern California desert to the snowbound mountains of the Washington/Canada border. But it also provides the opportunity to experience peace, joy, love, reflection, accomplishment, and transformation.
To help guide your exploration of this iconic trail, this book covers the ground between its sunny southern terminus in Campo and the iconic alpine beauty of Yosemite National Park’s Tuolumne Meadows almost a thousand miles to the north. This segment of the PCT offers not only some of California’s most mesmerizing scenery but also some of the trail’s most challenging terrain. You’ll sweat a lot, but every drop is worth the magic experienced while walking this enchanting—and possibly life-changing—path.

From The Introduction
The Wonderland Trail is a spectacular 90-plus mile loop that encircles the base of Mount Rainier, gaining and losing about 22,000 cumulative feet along the way. It runs through fragrant subalpine meadows, angry river valleys, and mossy forest floors, leaving your head spinning and your eyes longing for more. Around each turn is something new, unique, and unusual. Nature is the masterpiece on display in the gallery that is the Wonderland Trail.
At the center of the gallery stands Mount Rainier at 14,410 feet. A Northwest icon and legend to mountaineers, Rainier has dozens of prominent glaciers, along with permanent snowfields and highly eroded slopes. The Wonderland wraps around Rainier, moving up and down, showcasing the many expressive faces of the volcano. At some vistas, Rainier appears decrepit, powerless, and crumbly, while at others she appears savage, forceful, and strong.
