User questions & answers
Question: | Are there parts of this that are plastic? If so, which parts |
Answer: | All of the parts are plastic. |
Question: | Are the holes supposed to have diffferent flows? 3 flow fast and the others are slow drips |
Answer: | I believe that the flow should be similar for each hole. Check out the video on Amazon's page. It shows all holes with a similar flow. If your flow pattern is much different you may have a unit with a manufacturing defect. |
Question: | How can i stop the plastic taste? i've washed it repeatedly. is it because of the plastic melting? i've only used stainless steel before now |
Answer: | The question is "plastic taste" not "filter taste". Hot water should not be used on plastic or nylon products. Google it! |
Question: | Some holes seem to be draining slower than others. Is this a problem |
Answer: | Hi there, I'm Rebecca with OXO. Thank you for your question! We designed the Water Tank on the OXO Good Grips Pour Over Coffee Maker to have a very precise flow rate through the use of different sized holes. As the pressure in the tank decreases, certain holes stop flowing while others continue to drain. This balance allows our Pour Over Coffee Maker to achieve the ideal brew time for a well-balanced extraction and, ultimately, a great cup of coffee! Enjoy! OXO |

The cold-brew process makes smoother, less bitter and less acidic hot or iced coffee. Steeping the grounds in cold water releases only the most aromatic flavors. Plus the concentrate created from the cold-brew process stays fresh longer than regular coffee.
The OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker brings the cold-brew process to your kitchen, offering smooth, low-acid coffee without a trip to the cafe. Just add coffee grounds to the Brewing Container and fill the Rainmaker top with water. The Rainmaker ensures that water is distributed evenly over the coffee grounds. Let the mixture steep for 12 - 24 hours. When you’re ready to enjoy, the Brew-Release Switch allows for easy control of the draining process. The stainless steel ultra-fine mesh filter can be removed for quick cleanup.
Once the concentrate is prepared, mix with ice and water for iced coffee or hot water for hot coffee. Milk can also be added. Tea-lover? The OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker will steep and strain your favorite tea into sealable, glass carafe.
For best results, use coarse ground coffee. Finer grounds may prevent the OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker from draining properly.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the average time to brew |
Answer: | I believe the manual/guide suggests letting coffee brew for 12-24 hours. My palate isn't very sophisticated so I couldn't really say whether there's a real difference between letting brew shorter or longer, within that window, but I've let it brew near both ends of that range and it always seems to turn out well. I generally let it brew overnight, and how long it ends up brewing is generally based on what time during the previous day I started it brewing. |
Question: | How much liquid should it yield? I used 20 oz. of water and 5.0 oz. of coffee grounds. I only ended up with approximately 10 oz. of coffee concentrate |
Answer: | I've had mine for a bit over a year now. I use 10 oz by weight of course ground and 48 liquid oz water, let stand/brew for 24 hours, stirring after 12 to 18 hours , then drain for 30 to 45 minutes. I use the optional paper filters, keeps the "dust" out. |
Question: | What made you go with this unit over the Todd cold brew unit which is 15 dollars cheaper? I'm trying to decide which one to get so thanks |
Answer: | I've been using the Toddy for years - in fact I replaced my first unit with another Toddy when the plastic got scratched. The Toddy handle is so flimsy that I threw it out after one use. It is difficult to remove the plug without getting coffee on your hands (or shirt if you tip it). If you don't put the plug in all the way so that it's easier to remove, it leaks. I felt that reusable plastic filter was unsanitary. I don't like bleaching plastic, and it shrinks if you put boiling water over it. The OXO is sturdy, and a more rigid plastic. The lever, while stiff, is much easier to operate than the plug. The OXO stand is wonderful (I still remember the morning when I didn't set the Toddy filter assembly straight on the carafe & the whole thing tipped over me and the counter.) The metal filter of the OXO doesn't hold as much grounds inside, and it can be run through the dishwasher or boiled. I'm wishing that I'd seen the OXO sooner - and I've been using a Toddy for 5 years. The only thing that the Toddy does better is that it will hold a pound of coffee, while the OXO only holds 10 oz. |
Question: | Is there a replacement available yet for if the carafe breaks? And by if I mean I broke my carafe |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much coffee do you use? How much does it make |
Answer: | You put coffee up to the coffee Bean marker, 6 oz. Use 24 Oz water. Yield is about 16 oz of coffee concentrate. The book says about 5-7 drinks. |
Question: | Can i use the oxo cold brew coffee maker paper filters for this compact maker |
Answer: | Yes you can as a secondary to the stainless steel mesh provided. The stainless one is non removable but it will also accept a paper filter. |
Question: | I’ve noticed a problem with my flavored coffee clogging the filter. I grind it as coarse as possible, is there anything else I can do |
Answer: | Unfortunately, the flavor in your flavored coffee is produced by oils. Those oils are inherently going to stick to and clog up filters. this is less of an issue on the larger paper filter of a pour over or drip coffee maker, but it will present a challenge in something like this. If you're using a burr grinder, they're also going to leave residue behind on the burrs, so you'll need to make sure you're cleaning it after every use (or at very least when you change flavors and periodically for the health of the burrs). Unfortunately, your best bet if you want to add some sort of flavor to the coffee is to use an unflavored bean and add flavor to the concentrate or the final glass of coffee. |
Question: | How many ounces of coffee concentrate are produced in a batch |
Answer: | The book says 16 oz |

User questions & answers
Question: | Just wanting to know what is the functional difference between the cone and basket settings. what is the machine doing differently with each setting |
Answer: | Lots of people online say they do crack dry soybeans with this mill. I tend to only use the fine setting but it looks like it could be set to very course. |
Question: | Is the base of this coffee maker 12.4 inches wide like the manufacturer states or is it 13.5 as Amazon says? I have a real tight location for this |
Answer: | Yes, the grain mill does fit and it works well on an older champion. I grind wheat and make my own bread with the champion. |
Question: | Dies this Breville coffee maker have an automatic shutoff and is it programmable so that I can prep it the night before and it brews the next morning |
Answer: | It did not work for me it was very difficult to take off and put on. I had the model listed you are asking about I emailed champion and I found out this one is for the newer model. I returned it. |
Question: | Hi, is water tank removable |
Answer: | That depends on the grain. Harder grains like wheat take a little longer. Millet or sorghum take less time. What I have found to be the best way to mill hard grains is to set the stones wide and just crack the grain first. Then I reset the stones to the setting I want my flour to be and run it through again. It takes about 1/2 the time to do it this way in my experience. If I set the stones narrow right off it can take up to 1/2 hour to mill 3-5# of grain. It's more work the way I've described, but if you're like me, time is money! :-) |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the carafe glass or stainless steel |
Answer: | It's amazing to me to see comments on anything but what is exactly described within this link for the DCC-3200P1. No, this isn't the DCC-3400. Yes, it has a glass carafe. The description says so in three places. Nowhere does the description mention a stainless carafe - NOWHERE. The photos show glass (I agree two of them have what looks to be coffee brewed, but at least one photo clearly shows an empty GLASS carafe. |
Question: | Can you take the carafe out and pour a cup of coffee before it is totally finished brewing (without it continuing to drip |
Answer: | Yes you can pour a cup of coffee before it is totally finished brewing. It does not drip. Once you return carafe it just finishes filling. There is no problem with a drip. Per the instructions. It tells you it is ok to do and it works perfectly |
Question: | Whar, besides style, is the difference between dcc3200 and dcc |
Answer: | Taste: Coffee in the 3200 is more flavorful. A new machine might be expected to be better, but I think they've gotten the flow and temperature of the brewing process better.Temperature: The brewed coffee is much hotter. Both units have three temperature settings for the hot plate, but the settings on the 3200 are hotter.Size and Capacity. The 3200 handles 14 cups compared to the 1200's 12 cups. Yet as you can see from the photos, they are the same height to fit on a counter. They seem to get the extra capacity by making the 3200 a little deeper from front to back. We've been surprised at how useful the extra capacity is.Carafe: The new glass carafe is just like the old one, only larger. It pours nicely with or without the lid on it. The new lid works the same as the old one, popping off and on. (I read some complaints about the lid on an intervening model with a spring opening, but if so, they fixed that by going back to the 1200 style). As far as I can tell, there isn't a version of the 3200 designed for a thermal carafe like there is for the 12-cup models. I prefer the glass carafe because it keeps the coffee hotter longer, and I can always pour the coffee into a thermal carafe if I want to.Water Filling. The bigger size also increases the size of the water fill hole. The lid on the top of the 3200 unit raises to 90 degrees straight up, where the lid on the 1200 tilted further back and out of the way. Still the 3200 is easier to fill, and I suspect that the restriction on the tilt may help preserve the integrity of the hot water tube.Sneak a Cup. Taking out the carafe to sneak a cup during brewing worked great on the 1200 with little dripping, and still does on the 3200.Basket. The basket on the 3200 is very similar to the 1200, but a slightly different shape to accommodate more grounds for 14 cups. Actually, grounds just barely fit with a 4 cup paper filter in the new basket, and sometimes go above the filter in the basket. The basket actually seems more designed for the included gold filter.Water filter. The 3200 uses the exact same carbon filters and filter holder as the 1200, but the holder seems to fit more snugly in its hole, which may help prevent clogging (see below)Beep. The 3200 allows you to turn of the coffee-ready beep if you want.Controls. Controls on the 3200 are a little easier. The 3200 uses all push buttons with no switches. Separate hour and minute settings make it a little easier to program and set the clock. There is a new "Bold" setting which does indeed seem to result in stronger coffee. There is still a setting for smaller, 1-4 cup pots, but I never use that. You can still set the hot plate to stay hot for up to 4 hours, which is important to me. There is a fairly bright blue glow from the LED display on the 3200.Cleaning. There was a sensor button on the hot plate of the 1200 that's gone on the 3200, so the plate stays cleaner. The extra stainless steel looks good on the 3200 but probably shows smudges more and might benefit from special cleaner fluids.Coffee Grounds Overflowing and Clogging. This was the biggest problem before, and I don't know if it's fixed, but it seems better. On the 1200, if you put too many coffee grounds in the filter it could overflow in the brewing process, and sometimes grounds would get into the water system and clog the tube. The 1200 was designed not to be repairable, but customers tried anyway with some difficulty. After one successful repair, we eventually had to replace the 1200. So far, we have not had any overflow issues with the 3200. The larger basket (with possibly a bigger drip opening), the deeper reservoir and longer case, and the more stable, non-tilting lid may help with this, but we will see how it works over time. I do notice that they made the bottom panel easier to remove, with regular screws instead of Torx, if it ever comes to that. My one tip for users is to always use the filter holder with a filter in it, even if your water is fine, because that should help prevent grounds from getting into the heating system. In all, the 3200 is an excellent replacement for the 1200, and worth the extra money if you are choosing between the two models new. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My coffee maker is brand new but the coffee has a mildew taste. How can I fix this |
Answer: | Wow! Never heard of this. First suggestion: Clean the pot with water and vinegar. Experts disagree on the ratio of water and vinegar. Some say equal parts. Some encourage a 2 or 3:1 ratio; two to three parts water to one part vinegar. Whatever ratio you decide to use, shut the pot off partway through the cycle for about 30 minutes and let the solution set. After the cycle is complete, run another cycle of water. Hopefully this will remove any taste in the tubes or other parts of the coffee pot. Also note your water supply. Any changes there? Consider your coffee. Is this a new can of coffee? If, after cleaning, you are still having problems, call Cuisinart. They were very helpful when we had a problem with our first machine. Wishing you the best in resolving this problem. |
Question: | it is not brewing all the water, only very small amounts are getting into the carafe |
Answer: | Different causes for this symptom. If water is leaking over the edge of the coffee basket instead of draining through the basket and/or filter, the basket may need a gentle fine wire-brush cleaning or the filter may need to be replaced. If there is no leakage over the rim of the basket, 3 things:1. The basket valve on the bottom is not opening and the auto-shutoff stops operation - fixes are a) ensure the carafe has the top on and is put directly below the basket so that the valve is opened by the carafe-top, b) either the electronic components of the auto-shutoff have failed or the mechanical components of the auto-shutoff have failed. Test the basket's mechanical auto-shutoff by filling the basket with water and putting the empty pot (with top on) under it to open the auto-shutoff valve - all the water in the basket should drain. 2. The charcoal filter in the water reservoir is blocking water flow, - test with a normal load of water without any coffee but take the charcoal filer out.3. Water tunnels between the water reservoir and the basket are blocked (sediment, etc.). If the above doesn't clear the problem, try the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations - especially if your water source results in sediment stains (commonly seen in toilet bowls) which can block the water tunnels over time.If the electronic circuit board is failing there is no fix other than replacement. |
Question: | what kind of paper filter does it use |
Answer: | It uses a number 4 paper. Purchased from your local grocery store, any brand is acceptable. Simply place inside the gold filter basket. |
Question: | Has the electrical problem been solved |
Answer: | No the electrical On switch no longer working has not been solved and this is the 3rd one of these I have purchased in 15 years, sounds crazy right? They make great coffee right up until they do not work at all! The 30 minute unplug fix worked for a couple weeks until the coffee pot hot plate base turned itself on this evening when I was in the next room, smelled that awful electrical burning smell, looked all over then saw the empty carafe cracked and singed and the hot plate burning away. No clock or lights were working. I quickly unplugged it and tossed it out in the bin! Glad I was home or I might not have had a home to return to! I am now shopping for another one that hopefully will not try to kill me! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is tere a special permanent gold tone filter for use with this model |
Answer: | Hi Steve - We do not manufacture/sell a specific reusable (gold) filter, but any version on the market should work with the Brew Basket on this model Coffeemaker. I suggest maybe taking the basket with you to the store when you purchase one, just to make sure. Thank you! |
Question: | can i use this to make tea or lemonade |
Answer: | I suppose you could use it for tea, but it is so fine tuned for coffee (temperature) that I don't know why you would. You won't have the correct temps for black, oolong, white, green tea. |
Question: | Does coffee maker have a thermal carafe |
Answer: | Yes it does, but I would highly recommend preheating the carafe with boiling water before Brewing. It will keep the coffee hotter for longer period of time. |
Question: | Cups??? How many ounces are actually brewed |
Answer: | I measured using an 8 oz measuring cup -27 ounces of water takes you even with the 5 cup line -28 ounces of water takes you just above the line --Everything was properly measured at the meniscus -This yields a per-cup pre-brewed number of between 5.4 oz and 5.6 oz --As others have said, there will be some retention of liquid in the grounds. --The amount of retention varies depending on the grind (fine/course) and the roast of the coffee. Search on "How to measure water at meniscus" if you're curious as to why this is the accurate figure. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you choose the amount you want to brew? Can it do a small amount, just one or two cups at a time |
Answer: | There is no setting for number of cups to brew. You can, however, pour the amount of water you want to brew into the water intake compartment at the top of the coffee maker. For example, if you want to brew two cups of coffee, fill your coffee cup with water twice and pour it into water intake opening. The coffee maker will brew that amount of coffee. |
Question: | do you need the pitcher for water or can you use the carafe |
Answer: | I have the BT version of this coffee maker. It is the best coffee maker I have ever purchased! You can use the carafe, but I use a pitcher. If I know that the coffee will sit for a little bit, I rinse the pot with hot water to help keep the coffee hot in the carafe. My BT version makes fantastic coffee fast! |
Question: | ready to buy a new Bunn. Bad reviews on the model chosen reference to the epoxy smells had this been resolved |
Answer: | Mine is Great . No smell at all. I really like the stainless steel pot and it automatically turns off . So you don't have to worry about forgetting to turn it off |
Question: | What are the height and depth of the carafe |
Answer: | The depth is 12.5 inches, height is 15 inches. Easiest and quick coffee brewing. I had a ninja, was great at first but had issues and ninja replaced my first one after a year and the second one worked well for a year and half. So I went back to Bunn. Hope this helps! |
