Question:	In the manual, I can't see any reference to paper filters. Can I use a paper filter instead of the gold mesh filter that comes with the machine
Answer:	I've tried it and it works and I've also tried putting the paper filter in the gold plated mesh filter too. You might as well leave the gold plated mesh in place just in case the paper tears... Although using the white paper filters may expose you to very small amounts of toxin that potentially is residual from the bleaching process to make those filter papers white... you might alternatively use the "natural" brown colored filters to avoid possible dioxin exposure...Another minor point about using paper filters is that it will slightly slow down the liquid flow thru the filter area which may or may not cause an issue... I've never used paper long enough to know if there is a problem with this...
Question:	Is the water tank plastic of stainless on this? If its plastic, does anyone know of a coffee maker that is made of stainless
Answer:	The water tank is not exposed to heat and only holds the water for a few minutes. I have news for you, nobody makes a metal water tank. Even my $300 Technivorn MoccaMaster has a plastic water reservoir.
Question:	Are the glass and thermal carafe usable in the same machine
Answer:	Yes, as long as you are talking the same model (glass for $155 or thermal for $180), they ARE compatible. I know this with certainty, as i just replaced my 5 year old model (glass) with same thing (thermal) and i checked to see if the glass carafe fit.
Question:	Does this coffee maker allow you to brew, say 2 cups, when the water reservoir and bean bin are full? Or do you have to fill both to match the number
Answer:	The grinder will run for a variable period of time depending on the number of cups you set (and Capresso's opinion of how much ground coffee that requires) but the boiler will run until there is no more water in the reservoir. Therefore you can fill the bean hopper without any specific measure and refill when it gets low but you need to put the specific amount of water you want to end up in the pot in the reservoir each time you brew. In this way you can brew stronger coffee, for example set the indicator to 10 cups but only put 8 cups of water in the reservoir, or vice versa for weaker coffee. However, many reviewers note that the machine only heats the water to the "ideal" brewing temperature if you set it for 10 cups.

Answer:	You use coffee beans ground specifically for espresso, which is finer than the grind you would use for regular coffee machines. But no, it does not take the pre-filled pods. You measure coffee grinds into the little basket. God bless!

Answer:	Use a burr grinder,not a blade grinder. Set on one of the fine settings to start with. Put 16 grams of ground beans (I use a medium roast) coffee in the portafilter, tamp to 60 lbs, rotate the tamper and tamp again. Good to go, no soupy pucks for you!

Answer:	I don't use the frothing attachment, just the steam wand part, so I just wet sponge wipe off the wand after each use. Just takes a couple of seconds.

Answer:	it depends on the coffee you choose. you can buy non-espresso from Nespresso. But the amount of coffee is capped at a "small cup" because you can't fit a bigger cup in the machine. I stopped using it for anything other than heating water for a Starbucks Via (instant coffee).

Answer:	The 500 is the old model...600 replaced the 500 model. I had a 500 and replaced it with the 600, when I knocked it off my counter and it broke . The difference is, the neck of the carafe on the 600 is wider, making it easier to fill with water and clean. The inside of the 600 is stainless steel whereas the old model was alloy. The stainless steel keeps the coffee warmer. As far as the coffee, they both make equally good coffee.

Answer:	I hate this machine. Mine is already non-functional (when the pressure builds, the whole basket explodes spewing hot coffee mess everywhere).

Answer:	I would like to post an update to my bashing this unit. I have modified mine by removing the little nozzle under the basket (you need to unscrew the three screws to get to it, it just pops out). This is the main reason for the soupy pucks, weak espresso, and excessive "foam" masquerading as crema.Now, I am pulling REALLY great shots using a blend of Bustelo gourmet (black vacuum packed) and La Rica (green and black vacuumed packed).Put one scoop of Bustelo in the bottom, and top it off with the La Rica, then a light tamp. You will pull the shot for around 25 seconds and have one of the best espresso shots from home on a machine under $500.I know, some of you are saying "you need to grind your own bean for freshness" ...trust me! Try this first, I was not able to get a good enough grind to suit this unit, and I am using a high dollar burr grinder.

Answer:	I went on eBay; and, found two different permanent filters. One is cone-shaped; and, the other is round. Both were $6.95 and free shipping. I searched “Capresso Filter”.

Answer:	You can! K-cups have a perfectly measured amount of coffee grounds for a delicious cup of coffee.Just tear off the foil top of the K-cup and pour the coffee grounds inside into the basket. I love this little coffee maker! It is very lightweight and doesn't take up much room. I use this whenever I travel. It's so small and light, I just throw it in my suitcase!

Answer:	Says on the box made in China. —And, I went to use it for the first time, only to find it won’t work. 😑 Brew button keeps releasing after only 2.5 oz brewed. Went through the reset process like the manual says, and after trying multiple times still not working. (It falls over easily as well—too light, hence unstable.) Question:	How often do you need to clean the grounds between the grinder and the filter? Does it ever plug
Answer:	Our first machine was defective and we pretty much had to clean it daily. We later found out the bean hopper/grinder were defective. Jura replaced the machine after several calls and troubleshooting sessions over the phone. We were at our wits end and nearing the 6 month warranty period. The second machine they sent us would grind a full container of beans when we set the timer and the water reservoir leaked BAD... water would literally RUN out of the bottom when we were filling it, we had to hold a rag underneath after filling so water didn’t drip all across our floor because the machine isn’t near my sink. Jura wouldn’t send a replacement initially because they said “we were past the 6 month warranty period”. I said waaaiiit a minute, you guys just sent me this machine as a replacement for my defective not even TWO months ago!! She replies, we go by the original purchase date. I told her that it hasn’t even been 8 months since our ‘original purchase’ I’d you guys aren’t going to stand behind your product then send me my money back! She put me on hold to confer with a coworker... a few minutes later she comes back, they are sending me a new machine with a return label to send the SECOND defective machine back. Now on our third machine and they are sending us our THIRD water reservoir because they leak sooo bad when filling it. The last time the customer service rep told me that if this reservoir leaked that I would need to send the machine in to have them check it. I told her if that happens we will be demanding our money back and go back to what we had before and grind our own beans because the Jura is not worth the hassle if they aren’t going to stand behind their products.

Question:	Why does the machine leaks when in use
Answer:	Not sure why yours leaks. Mine does not. Possibly you are overfilling past the "fill" lines? Also, be sure you put the lid on the glass carafe before putting it on the machine. I did not do that the first time and I had water all over.
Question:	Anybody break their pitcher yet
Answer:	I do like that it's glass though and not plastic due to allergies and cleanliness, so it's worth it to me even if it breaks and I have to replace it.
Question:	Does it have a separate filter or compartment to add sugar/sweetener? Where do you put the sugar
Answer:	Denise, it does not have a separate compartment for sweeteners. I add sugar or flavored syrup on top of the ice, stir when brewing stops.I love this tea maker. Best one I've ever had. Makes wonderful clean tasting tea. Be gentle with the carafe, it's fragile. I handwash mine.
Question:	why does the ad state 'machine only'? is the glass pitcher included in the price
Answer:	Maybe it is used and since the glass pitcher is the thinnest of thin and breaks when you put ice in it, maybe their cheap "glass" pitcher is broken and unavailable like mine.

Question:	How long does it take to make a pot of coffee
Answer:	I usually make 8 cups...this takes about 5-6 minutes.
Question:	Does the coffee maker beep when done brewing
Answer:	If it does I do not have it set to beep..It just stops making bubbling noise. This machine makes great coffee.
Question:	Is this the same pot as SG
Answer:	I do not know but my glass pot cracked as soon as I got it and I had an old Gevalia pot that works.. The coffee this machine makes is great.
Question:	Does this have a cone shaped filter? Is it the same machine as the Sg
Answer:	I have had the Capresso SG220 (Model #427.05) coffee maker for about a year and am very happy with it. The filters are the cupcake style, not the cone shaped. I wish, however, that it had a filter like my previous Capresso, but maybe that filter wasn't filtering as much as I had imagined anyway!
