I only have coffee in the morning so I set a timer to heat the reservoir early enough to beat me up and have it shut off after you would have your last cup. A 5 hour window safely covers any possible time I have coffee. You can always plug in into a live socket on the occasion when you may have guests or want coffee at an unusual time. I just can't see heating water 24 hours a day. It has to be a good grounded timer that can handle the load of the coffee maker. A cheap timer made for a light isn't adequate or safe for a coffee maker. The timer I use is rated at 1875 W and the coffee maker's tank heater and stay warm heater is 900 W when both are activated. It is double the load of the coffee maker at maximum operating conditions. There are not expensive, probably $10-$12, do not skimp and chance burning your house down or worse. |

| Answer: | Our machine does not have a water filter. We have it plumbed to a reverse osmosis system. Our machine did come with the plastic basket that holds the coffee/coffee filter and a supply of the paper filters that fit in the basket. |
