Answer:	YES! and it drives me NUTS! very bad design for the dial. I fixed it though.....put a nice piece of DUCT TAPE it to set it on hot. Not a bid deal for me, I only use it on the hot setting for dress shirts.

Answer:	1. The delux has over 400 holes in the soleplate, the standard has over 300. The more holes you have the more steam you will get. 2. The delux has a retractable cord the standard does no. The retractable cord allows for neater appearance and quicker storage. With my experience, the cord on the standard will eventually developen a short. 3. The delux has an illuminated electronic control while the standard has an indicator dial. There are a couple of other minor features but personally, I felt that if the difference was just the extra holes I would still select the delux.
Question:	any dripping issues with the chi? how does it compare to rowena
Answer:	There is no dripping. I do a lot of ironing so I always get the top of the line iron. I have 3 of rowenta's best irons that leaks and one where the stainless steel plate gets gummed up with the slightest use of starch. The quality of the rowenta has gone way down. I decided to buy the CHI aftER reading up on the iron. So far I'm very pleased and I don't have to clean the plate after every use. One more thing, I bought the deluxe model and paid 141.00 and later on found that everyone else sells the iron for 99.00. Did not think that amazon would allow vendors to hose their customers this way. I guess from now on I'll check other sites before making my decision where I'll spend my money.

Answer:	Yes you can see where the water is because there is an inside measuring instrument. You will clearly see up to what point you should fill it up. However, it makes no sense to waste your money and buy this iron because over time it is going to start leaking water from the bottom. All this does is to wet up your clothes, iron board and constantly having you do a re-fill. Makes no sense to get this as a steam iron. It doesn't serves the purpose for long.
Question:	does this iron have auto shut off
Answer:	If you leave the iron on:. horizontally without moving it, it will automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. The power indicator will blink to indicate the iron has stopped heating.. on its heel rest without moving it, the iron will automatically turn off after several minutes. Power indicator will blink.The power indicator will continue to blink until the iron is unplugged or reset. These are the instructions which come with the iron and I have found them to be accurate.
Question:	can tap water be used in this iron
Answer:	Beware of using tap water. I love this iron and am replacing it with the exact same brand and model. That said, I plan to use only distilled water in my new one. After using this iron with tap water for 3 or 4, I started getting rust marks on fabric when ironing and tiny black specks of something that didn't penitrate the fabric. After going on line and reading about rust in irons, it is most likely caused by a buildup of minerals inside the steam vents from using tap water. I tried cleaning with vinegar and water but stuff is still coming out of it so am replacing it.
Question:	Can this be used on bare floors such as linoleum or wood
Answer:	If you want a good, reasonably-priced floor steamer, I would recommend a Shark. I've had one for a couple of years now, and I love it! I paid well less than $100 for it; though I don't remember exactly what I paid, I believe it was even less than $50 on sale at a local big box.
Question:	Is it possible to create creases in pants? How
Answer:	I needed to crease napkins so i just laid them on the ironing board and “ironed” therm with the steamer. It worked perfectly. I imagine you would be able to do the same with your pants.
Question:	How do you hang clothes to steam? Can you hang them from the steamer itself
Answer:	Yes, I use a plastic hanger bc the wood can stain your clothing. There is a spot to hang next to where you hook the hose at the top. Love this steamer. Word of warning, do not leave water in it when not in use. After each use, I take the water bucket out and allow it to continue steaming until the water in the machine is gone. This prevents spores from growing and prolongs usage of steamer I believe.

Answer:	As previously mentioned, the metal head acts heats up and can be used as a traditional iron, but for steaming it's bulky (large diameter) and too heavy to hold for any length of time. I exchanged the metal head for the plastic head

Answer:	I know nothing about the 2 you mentioned but I love this little iron. I use it more for sewing , but have used it for clothing that needed touch ups.

Answer:	I, too have this problem. Does not get the wrinkles out no matter what I try. Now I have to get another iron. Very disappointed.

Answer:	The pieces have threaded ends and the pieces are screwed together. Cutting pieces would remove the threading necessary for assembly

Ironing vs. Pressing

You may have heard the terms 'ironing' and 'pressing' used interchangeably, but they are actually quite different. When ironing, you slide the iron back and forth over fabric. When pressing, the iron is placed and held on the fabric in one spot, lifted up, and this process is repeated until the areas that need attention are smooth. A “pressing” technique is helpful to avoid stretching fabrics.

Control Options

Easy to use temperature settings help you choose the best temperature for the material you’re ironing. It also comes with an automatic shutoff indicator so you know if the iron has turned itself off.

Position-Sensing

For added safety, a three way automatic shutoff feature is built into the iron. This feature will turn off the iron in 30 seconds if the iron rests on its soleplate or side. If it is on its heel, it turns off automatically after 15 minutes.

Stainless Steel Soleplate

Stainless steel soleplates are great for pressing sharp creases and ironing natural fibers. They are also easy to clean and won’t stain.

Test Kitchen Tip: To clean an iron’s soleplate, preheat the iron to the highest temperature setting and iron over a damp, 100% cotton cloth. This creates heavy steam that transfers grime from the soleplate to the cloth. Many irons have a Self-Clean button. This will clean the steam holes, but it won’t remove grime from the flat surface of the soleplate. Note: Care should be used while cleaning; steam can burn.

Distilled vs. Tap; which is best for my iron?

At Hamilton Beach, we do not recommend the exclusive use of distilled water in any of our irons. While distilled water does not damage irons, tap water has some properties that are actually preferable and it saves you money. Tap water contains minerals that act like 'wetting agents' to help the water vaporize upon contact with the soleplate. If you live in a hard water area, we recommend that you alternate between tap and distilled water.

Answer:	Dont know. Since I work in developing nations, sometimes it shuts off and I am not sure if its because of the iron or the current.

Answer:	it does have adjustable temps. i used the steamer option on a delicate velvet fabric and it was fine. to iron, i would put a cloth on the delicate fabric so it shouldnt have direct contact with the iron.
