The three landscape (horizontal) pockets are on the inside edge of the page. If the page is on your left, the right edges of these three pockets align with the gutter (center) of the album. If the page is on your right, the left edges of these three pockets align with the gutter. With the album opened, you will have six landscape/horizontal pictures in the center flanking the gutter and the four portrait/vertical pictures on the outside edges. One lined column where you can write notes separates the vertical pictures from the horizontal pictures. It runs from the top of the page to the bottom. I hope this makes sense. | Answer: | Oh No, it is not a 3 ring binder. Far from it. The DCWV 12" by 12" Once Upon a Time Album is a scrapbook in every sense of the word with one exception. The Album comes with 10 top-loading clear page protectors inside with which to insert the pages from your Glitter Paper Stack. The binder, if one would like to call it such, is refereed to as "Post Bound". That is to say it is expandable. By this I mean there are removable metal posts that can be taken apart with the turn of a penny or a screw driver. Post extensions are available which may be placed one on top of another in order to accommodate more pages. Refill pages are available right here on Amazon.com. I would think an album should accommodate an entire Paper Stack. The same is true of the DCWV 8" by 8" albums and, to the best of my knowledge, it is the same with all of the DCWV Scrapbook Albums.
