Answer: "Vinyl" is simply a common name for PVC (polyvinyl chloride) -- so no, these are not PVC-free, they're made of PVC. A previous answer stated that PVC is usually a rigid plastic -- true, but for flexible PVC like these, plasticizers are added, such as phthalates. That means you should NOT store your coins directly in these pages -- the PVC will stain them over time (and besides, they'll slide right out). These pages are designed to hold 2"x2" coin flips, which are made from mylar (polyethylene) set in cardboard. The mylar is the only plastic that touches your coins, and it's archival-quality, totally stable and safe for coins. So, you put your coin in the cardboard/mylar coin flip, staple it closed if you plan to take it out and look at it a lot, and slide the cardboard coin flip directly into this PVC page. Used in this way, the PVC pages are totally safe for your coins.

Answer: I only used the holders for my quarters so far but if your coin fits in a 2X2 cardboard holder they will fit and can easily be pulled out for viewing.

Answer: The ones I have are not that brand, but they are shiny and so would probably have a glare on them. I have several other BCW brand pocket pages and they are all shiny. However, there may be some that have a matte finish, but I don't know for sure.

Answer: you could just put the coin in the pocket, but if you turn the binder you have them in, the coin will fall out, and if you turn the binder upside down, you definitely would loose them all. The Germans had coin holders that had their pocket small enough to put just the coin in to keep it tight, but that was 35 years ago when I was stationed in Germany for the Army.

Question: Will these hold 4"x5" film negatives
Answer: I was concerned about the 'NS' as well, as it was not found on the Broan website. The physical difference between the original assembly and the new assemble was a built in relay in the power line. I saw the same relay in the newer units that have a timing control built in, regulated by the on/off switch. I could not find a Broan online owner's manual for the new models so I have not tried to regulate this unit, but I would not be surprised if you can. What I can tell you is this unit has worked fine, after many hours of use during this hot summer.
